the earnings report of all earnings

0:02

reports from chip king Nvidia on August

0:04

26. What I am wondering at the moment is

0:06

if the stock has gotten too darn cheap,

0:08

BFA analyst VC Arya said today in a note

0:11

that Nvidia may be 50% undervalued. I

0:14

mean why not 80% but he said 50%. Taking

0:16

uh this one to the round table, Jared,

0:18

let me get back to you. Uh the call out

0:20

is interesting in the sense Nvidia stock

0:23

is coming up against that all-time high

0:25

I believe hit on May 14th.

0:27

>> Yeah. So, it's a really interesting

0:28

setup here and there's going to be a lot

0:30

of questions uh about their not their

0:33

free cash flow but the way it's deployed

0:35

and so the way Bank of America is coming

0:37

at this is through a sum of parts free

0:39

cash flow and they're comparing Nvidia

0:41

to some of their peers like uh Marll or

0:44

AMD which on that basis are very much

0:46

over uh you can see AMD Marll for 2027

0:50

they got those 46 49 times uh multiple

0:53

and then uh BFA kind of backs into the

0:56

calculation you Nvidia has all these

0:58

so-called circular financing deals. Even

1:01

if you impair 50% of its cash flow, they

1:04

still end up with uh some pretty big

1:06

numbers and so based on that, yeah,

1:08

they're saying Nvidia should be trading

1:10

a lot higher or should be a lot more

1:12

expensive. Uh in other words, it's cheap

1:14

right now. Um I think there's going to

1:16

be two really interesting things to come

1:17

on the call. First, what is Nvidia doing

1:20

with buybacks? This is something that

1:21

BFA really calls out here because if

1:24

you're if you increase your buybacks and

1:26

Nvidia hasn't done as many as a percent

1:29

of its total free cash flow as some of

1:31

its peers, but if you increase that, a

1:33

lot of the concerns about uh circular

1:35

financing deals go away because you're

1:37

giving shareholders back the the cash

1:39

flow. The other is uh all their

1:41

investments including off balance sheet

1:43

investments and the size of those and

1:45

how they're being treated uh on you know

1:48

on an accounting basis. So, I think

1:50

those are two things that investors are

1:51

really going to look for. And uh that's

1:53

something that kind of blows my mind

1:55

because a year ago that was on nobody's

1:56

radar.

1:57

>> Uh Eric, it's days like this where I

2:00

miss picking stocks because I would have

2:02

come out and made this call uh on Nvidia

2:04

head of earnings.

2:07

Well, uh, I thought it's been cheap for

2:09

a while, but if I could pretend I'm

2:11

Jared and say, "Hey, let's go to Wi-Fi

2:13

Interactive and you could pull up a, you

2:14

know, the last threeear chart of

2:16

Nvidia."

2:19

>> Go ahead, Eric.

2:21

>> You know, and so I think it's sort of

2:23

law of large numbers that's that's

2:25

plaguing them. The great company, great

2:26

CEO, got nothing bad to say about

2:28

Jensen, but I think, you know, there's a

2:31

reason why Marll is a is a higher

2:32

multiple. cuz it's smaller and the

2:34

market sort of believes the growth is is

2:36

coming. So, I don't know is can stock

2:39

buybacks do the trick to kind of juice

2:40

this thing? I mean, I guess it did for

2:42

Apple, but it didn't do it right away.

2:45

It took a couple of years for the market

2:47

to realize that the EPS was getting

2:49

better over time and so forth. So, I'm

2:51

not sure. I I you know, I I think that

2:53

uh names like Nvidia and all the memory

2:55

stocks, they've obviously all had a run.

2:58

Nvidia had it first, then the memory

3:00

stocks later. I think the market is kind

3:02

of smiffing out like what are going to

3:03

be the next set of stocks to benefit

3:05

from AI that are going to go 5x or so

3:07

forth.

3:08

>> And Eric, I think investors are are not

3:10

given the respect uh this portfolio of

3:13

stocks that Nvidia or companies the

3:15

companies or the companies Nvidia has

3:16

invested in enough respect. Why is it so

3:18

bad that Nvidia has invested in Open AI

3:21

and Enthropic? I mean, I get they're

3:22

basically the same companies, but still

3:24

both of them are likely to have massive

3:25

IPOs. Nvidia is going to get paid.

3:29

>> It's not bad. It it's a good thing. It's

3:31

not cir I don't I I I I I don't have

3:33

time for these people to say it's all

3:34

circular financing. Oh, do it's a house

3:36

of cards is going to fall. I mean, these

3:38

are just the bears that are perennial

3:40

bears. Uh I you know, there's a reason

3:42

why they want to support this uh

3:45

ecosystem around them to to buy their

3:46

chips. So makes perfect sense from an

3:48

operating perspective and that's a

3:50

different question from is the stock

3:53

going to work over the next 6 12 months.
