OpenAI launches ChatGPT for teens.
22 segments
Open AI is having questions about safety
when it comes to these chatbots or AI
apps and teens. There has been various
reports about people claiming that
they've led to relationships between AI
and teens where people become delusional
over time, but teens have gone on to
self-harm, that the chatbots have given
them steps on how to do that or
encouraged them in certain instances to
perform acts like that. And so, this is
a response to that as well as the fear
about those kind of relationships that
teens may form with their chatbots,
whether that's romanticizing them or
otherwise. It's a way for them to still
offer the product without having to cut
an entire population off. And obviously,
teens are an important cohort when it
comes to tech companies because you hook
someone young, they'll stay with you for
a long period of time.
