Hermes just dropped the best way to

engage with AI agents ever, the desktop

app. After playing around with this for

the last 24 hours, I can confidently say

Telegram dead, CLI dead, Open Claw dead.

This is now the best way to interact

with AI agents ever. If you use Hermes

Open Claw or never touched an AI agent

in your life, you want to stick around

with this. I'm going to go through every

single part of this new Hermes agent

desktop app, how to use it, the

features, what it adds, what makes it

amazing, and give you a couple use cases

that'll blow your mind. Let's go

straight into it. I was so excited when

I saw this announcement. I truly believe

CLI is just kind of a short-term trend.

I don't believe the average person wants

to be using CLIs to control Claude code

and Codex and Hermes and Open Claw. We

need desktop experiences. This is what

the average person wants to do. So,

first thing you can see here is all your

sessions on the left-hand side. This

instantly kills threading. You no longer

need threading in Telegram. This kills a

lot of the things you do in Discord. You

don't even need Discord anymore because

of this. You now have all your sessions

neatly organized. I have a lot here when

it comes to cron jobs, that's why it's a

little littered. I run like a bajillion

cron jobs, but now you have sessions for

everything. So, you can create sessions

for every part of your life. So, for

instance, if I wanted to have a content

session, I would say, "I want to discuss

my content." I will hit enter. There we

go. I can rename this content. Save.

Boom. Now I have a content thread.

Anytime I want to discuss my content

with Hermes, I can come in here and talk

to the content thread. You can even put

it into folders if you want. That's a

really nice way to organize this. But

really easy to use, organizable

sessions. Discord, Telegram on your

desktop gone, no need to use it anymore.

So, first thing I do if I was you is

after downloading the desktop app, by

the way, I will put the link for this

down below. Desktop app, beautiful

website, new research, most beautiful

aesthetics. I absolutely love it.

Download it from that link I sent you.

Go in here, create sessions or basically

threads for every aspect of your life.

If you're an investor, if you're a

content creator, if you're a business

person, if you're a programmer, make

sure you have a thread for every single

aspect of your life in here and you can

come back to these sessions cuz it's

just really good for keeping your

context organized. That's the first

thing I would do in here. Next thing I

would do in here is pin your important

ones. So, let's go in here. We can pin

it so we can always come back. If you've

watched my previous videos, you know one

big way these agents work is every cron

job creates a session, right? So, these

can quickly get littered with what you

see here are cron jobs. So, pinning your

important threads that you come back to

regularly will be very important. So,

after creating threads for every aspect

of your life, come in here, pin them. By

the way, this interface is really nice.

I really like the way this looks, the

way it's organized. It's just simple,

beautiful. It's not kind of a cluttered

Telegram or Discord, just really, really

nice. So, let's move into some of the

other really amazing features here,

artifacts. Artifacts is so cool because

this basically acts as your second brain

in a way. In here, you can see every

link you sent to your agent in any

session, any file you've ever sent, any

image you've ever sent. Before what I

was doing to store links, I had it built

like its own website, its own wiki

specifically for links. I don't need

that anymore. I can just send a link to

my Hermes agent, say, "Hey, save this

link for me." And now I can come back

into my artifacts and all the links are

here. This for me is going to act as

kind of my main bookmarking area for

links instead of bookmarking in Chrome

or Atlas. I'm just going to send it to

my Hermes agent from wherever I am and

now I can come back on my desktop and

find all those links I sent here. You

also have files. So, a lot of time I

give videos to Hermes and say, "Hey, can

you make transcripts of this?" Any files

it sends to me or saved are now in my

artifacts folder. This artifacts is just

an amazing way to keep track of any

files, images, anything you do with your

Hermes agent. So, never gets lost in

time. If you're anything like me,

happens to you a lot. You send links,

you have files that hey, create this

file for me, this PDF, this

presentation, and it gets lost in time

as your chat goes on. No more, really

nicely organized. Next up is messaging.

Just makes it really easy to set up all

your messaging services rather than

having to go through the CLI, which

again, I think CLI suck. Coming to

messaging, you can choose any of the

services, set them up really, really

easy. Gives you a whole guide. You paste

in your bot token. No more having to

figure out your terminal. This one's

great. Skills and tool sets. So, now you

can easily see all the skills you have

installed on your agent. One thing here

is I had no idea there are a ton of

skills default turned on for your Hermes

agent. This costs you tons of tokens.

So, one thing I'd highly recommend you

do

after you set up this desktop app is go

to your skills and tool sets and turn

off any of these you don't need. I don't

use iMessage. I don't talk to my Hermes

agent through iMessage. So, that's gone.

I don't do Find My through Hermes.

That's gone. Apple Reminders, no. Turn

off all these it they'll save you

contacts, tokens, and money. So, all

those skills are here. I also really

like these skills because they are

self-improving. So, as you have your

agent do things, it'll create skills

around that. So, this is a really cool

one. I've been building a game through

Godot the last few weeks. I can see

there is my custom skill it built while

it was working for me. So, really cool

place to not only turn off skills you're

not using, but also see the skills that

they custom made for you. You also have

tool sets. These are really awesome as

well. These are groups of tools you can

turn on that can be used together.

Really cool stuff here like browser

automation. So, there are tool sets

around doing a bunch of different things

in your browser. Go through these as

well and understand what your Hermes

agent is capable of cuz this is some

really advanced stuff it can do. Lot of

other things in desktop app. One thing I

love is the cron Inside cron, you can

see all the different cron jobs you have

set up. One of the biggest complaints I

get about Hermes agent from people is,

"Oh, I tell it to do this thing. I tell

it to build me an app every night. I

tell it to give me stock prices every

morning. Does it one time then doesn't

do it anymore." Probably because your

cron jobs were not set up properly.

They're very hard to confirm when you're

doing it through Telegram or through

Discord. Now, with this beautiful user

interface, you can come in, you can make

sure and validate your cron jobs you

want were set up. You can also click new

cron and hardcode in exactly what days

and times the cron jobs happens. So,

this is great. A big complaint is, "Oh,

I try to have it build me an app every

single night and I wake up and then the

apps are never built." Now, you can

confirm that happens. Now, you can

hardcode it in to make sure those cron

jobs happen. Can easily test in here as

well. Pause any cron jobs that you find

annoying. May Like I turned off some of

these playbook validators I had running.

Uh, they they didn't give me the results

I wanted. So, I was able to pause them

very easily here. This just makes

managing cron jobs so much easier.

Another big one I like is this button up

here to the right, this profile screen.

So, if we go to profiles, manage

profiles, these are going to be all your

different Hermes agents. In Hermes, the

concept of a profile is basically just

separate Hermes agents. I work with 1 2

3 4 5 6 7 different Hermes agents.

I have some that live on my DGX Spark,

on my two Mac minis, on my three Mac

Studios. They all live in different

places doing different things with

different roles and responsibilities.

Now I can very easily not only manage

them, what skills they have, but also

set up new Hermes agents very quickly

here, too. For you, here's my

recommendation. I would only create new

Hermes agents if you want to give them

different roles with different tools.

One of the biggest questions I get is,

what's the difference between a

sub-agent and a new Hermes agent? A

sub-agent is just a copy of the main

agent it's working off of. So, if your

Hermes agent spawns five sub-agents,

they're all copies of the main agent

with the same memories, the same skills,

same tool sets. But, if you have jobs

where you want a agent that has

different skills, different memories,

personalities, tool sets, you'll want a

separate Hermes agent, and that can be

done by setting up a new profile here.

So, you go to profiles in top right, hit

new profile, give it a name, you can

give it new skills, things like that,

and you're good to go. Edit the

personality, you can see the soul.md

here, give it different models, all of

that can be edited right here, which is

really nice. If you go into settings up

here in the top right, you can quickly

edit your model. This is really nice.

One big complaint I get all the time is,

hey, I'm trying to change the model, I

change the model, the whole thing

breaks, the whole thing croaks. No

longer have to worry about that. You

have your drop-down here, easily select

whichever model you want. I'm still

using Claude Opus 48. Appearance, this

is one I'm sure many people will mess

with. They give you a bunch of really

nice appearances. I'm going to be

honest, I'm usually a dark mode guy.

I just like the default new light theme.

I just like it. I don't know why, it's

just nice to me. It's a nice pleasant

icy blue color. I like it. I'm going

light mode. Sorry if I'm blinding you in

this video, but you have a lot of

different appearances you can mess with

here. Memory and contacts, so here's one

that is important. I used to have memory

issues with Hermes. If you watch any of

my earlier videos on Hermes, I complain

a lot about the memory. I actually

talked to the new research team, and

they gave me some recommendations. One

of them is lowering the compression

threshold. I lowered it to 0.5.

Basically, what that means is that

compacts actually more often, but

because it's compacting kind of less

memories, it won't forget as much. So, I

put that to 0.5, and I haven't seen

really many issues since then. So, if

you want to copy the settings I have

here when you go to memory and contacts,

you'll get better performance,

hypothetically speaking. That's what

I've seen. If you go to API keys, this

is a great one as well. One big mistake

a lot of people make is they'll set up

new connections to their Hermes agent,

and they'll drop in the API key right in

the chat to their Hermes agent, which is

a big no-no. Your API key is now living

in a chat log that anyone can read. You

want to do it through this API keys menu

now, which is very nice. Didn't really

have this before. So, you can quickly

make new API keys, paste them in, and

not have to give your key to an LLM,

which is something you never really want

to do. There's a couple other items I

did not go over here. I just don't think

they're as important, and I have no tips

for you. I want to make sure everything

I go through on these videos are like

actionable tips. That's what I pride

myself on. We don't read blog posts on

this channel. We don't read tweets on

this channel. We are about that action,

This desktop app is excellent. I do not

see myself going back to Telegram when

I'm on my computer. I will still use

Telegram when I'm on my phone and on the

go. I still believe that's the best way

to communicate with your Hermes agent

when you're on the go. But when you're

on your computer, this is as good of an

experience as it gets. Open Claw has

nothing like it. I'm sure they're going

to copy it very soon. I would actually

expect Hermes to come out with a mobile

app very soon that matches this closely.

This is clearly what the people want.

The average Joe Schmo's not going to use

the CLI. That makes no sense. So, let's

do a quick use case here. I want to show

you a couple of the ways this thing

works. Let's do this. Let's generate a

script and a thumbnail for this video

you're watching right now. Please

generate me a script and thumbnail

using the Chat GPT image model for a

YouTube video about the Hermes desktop

app. I'll show you some of the cool

things here you'll be able to see as

well. So, a lot of cool things you'll

start to see in this desktop app. You'll

be able to see all your tools going with

these nice animations. You'll be able to

see all the skills being used again

because Hermes is self-improving.

You'll be able to see as the skills

improve. You can see MCPs being used on

the go. These are all formatted really,

really nice. All right, looks like the

script was made. Looks very nice. We saw

all the skills being used as it was

doing it. Let's check out the thumbnail.

It's an all right thumbnail. It's not

the best thumbnail I've ever seen in my

entire life, but that's fine. You saw

how I was able to use all your different

skills. Really cool stuff. This is the

Hermes desktop app. I'm not going back.
