All

0:00

right, guys. So, in this video, I want

0:02

to go over with you three anabolic laws

0:04

that'll have you looking better naked

0:06

with the energy of a rock star. And when

0:09

I started embodying these three

0:10

unwritten rules that I want to go over

0:12

with you today, everything changed.

0:14

Like, if you feel like you're forcing

0:16

results right now, this is what you want

0:18

to embody. Okay? It's it's going to feel

0:19

more like power instead of force. And

0:22

it's not going to be dwindling energy.

0:24

It should be feeding energy. You should

0:26

be in an upward spiral at all times. And

0:29

everything should be working in unison,

0:31

which is one of the the laws that I want

0:32

to go over as well. Um, I'll get to that

0:35

in a moment, but doesn't mean it doesn't

0:37

matter if you want to gain muscle, if

0:39

you want to lose body fat, if you want

0:40

to focus on more energy, vitality, brain

0:43

power, mental focus, a combination

0:45

thereof, or all of the above. Uh, these

0:48

are three things that definitely will

0:49

help you do that. So, let's just get

0:50

right into it. All right. Um, the first

0:53

one, and this is going to seem kind of

0:55

crazy coming from a a fitness coach,

0:58

right? Working out

1:03

is not to burn calories.

1:07

Working out

1:09

is not

1:12

to burn

1:15

calories, right? Let's just say

1:18

calories. So, what do I mean by this?

1:21

Now, the reason I'm bringing this up is

1:23

because when people are especially

1:25

trying to get lean, what do they try to

1:27

do? They try to create a calorie

1:28

deficit, right? Now, what does that

1:31

mean? So, basically, there's a certain

1:33

amount of calories that you're burning

1:34

and there's a certain amount of calories

1:36

that you're consuming every day, right?

1:38

There's the calories out and then

1:39

there's the calories in. Um, to create a

1:42

calorie deficit, you need to be eating

1:44

less than you are burning right here so

1:47

that your body, you know, this gap will

1:49

equate to weight loss. your body will

1:51

pull from your fat stores for energy

1:53

instead of the food that you ate that

1:55

day. So, the way that people can

1:57

manipulate this number um is or or

2:01

create a a bigger gap, so to speak, is

2:03

by exercising more and increasing your

2:05

energy expenditure. Uh or you can eat

2:08

very little and eat less and less and

2:11

less and less. And that's what a lot of

2:12

people try to do is they try to starve

2:14

themselves and work themselves like a

2:15

dog. And this is just a losing strategy.

2:19

I often put this as like trying to save

2:22

your way to get rich. And I've made

2:23

other videos about this. Um, but working

2:26

out is not to burn calories. If you can

2:29

adopt this, this is going to fix

2:31

everything. All right? Working out is to

2:34

gain or maintain muscle mass or it's to

2:38

work on your cardiovascular health or

2:41

it's to work on some specific skill.

2:44

right now. I find a lot of people go

2:46

wrong where they have like a an Aura

2:48

ring or a Whoop band or maybe a Fitbit.

2:50

Um I don't know if those things are are

2:53

still popular, but uh you know, they

2:55

they see these these numbers that

2:57

they're quote unquote like burning on a

3:00

day-to-day basis and they just think

3:02

that that's extra food that they can eat

3:04

on top of what they're already eating.

3:06

Now, this is kind of similar to how you

3:08

go to that that uh you know, you go to

3:10

your gym and there's an elliptical

3:11

machine or there's like uh you know,

3:12

some cardio machine that'll tell you how

3:14

many calories that you've burned, so to

3:16

speak. And again, it's like in

3:17

quotations burned. Generally, those

3:20

things are way off. All right? So people

3:23

uh when they they try to try to tell

3:26

themselves, okay, I have more room to

3:28

eat, they are miscalculating how many

3:31

calories that they're actually burning,

3:33

and therefore they overeat, which just

3:35

cancels out the calorie deficit that

3:37

they're trying to create. So that's one

3:40

problem, right? It's the the

3:41

miscalculations. Um the other thing is

3:44

that if you're just working out to burn

3:46

more calories, what are you really doing

3:48

to yourself? Working out is stress,

3:51

okay? Okay, at the end of the day and

3:53

what happens when you stress your body

3:55

out? It gets hungry so that you will

3:57

find more food and consume more food to

4:00

make up for that energy deficit that you

4:02

have created through working out your

4:04

body. Now, am I saying all working out

4:06

is is bad? No. All I'm saying is that

4:10

don't just work out so that you can burn

4:13

more calories. You should be working out

4:15

focused on, you know, doing workouts

4:18

that are focused on keeping your

4:20

hormonal function working properly. And

4:23

there's other things that you need to

4:24

keep in mind as well, like it's got to

4:26

be fun. It's it's got to be something

4:28

that you can enjoy or at least be

4:30

indifferent to. A lot of people will try

4:32

to do the David Gogggins thing, and I'm

4:34

always crapping on David Gog Gogggins.

4:36

He's uh super inspiring either way. But

4:39

they think that getting lean means

4:40

beating the crap out of themselves,

4:42

getting on the elliptical or the

4:44

stairmaster or, you know, running on the

4:46

treadmill or, you know, running a

4:47

marathon on top of working out five or

4:49

six days a week. You don't need to be

4:51

training that much. I've been working

4:53

out uh three days a week for the last

4:56

decade. That's all I've ever done. Uh I

4:59

mean, before that, I was trying to hit

5:00

five days a week or more. And you know,

5:02

obviously I was falling flat on my face.

5:04

But uh when I started working with my

5:06

mentor Lucas Owen, um he's like

5:08

Australia's leading biohacker. He's a

5:10

naturopath and he's got a real uh good

5:13

context for the the hormone side of this

5:15

equation. He he is the first one where I

5:19

learned that 3 to four days a week of

5:22

heavy weight training is the best for

5:24

testosterone production. Now, is

5:26

testosterone the only thing that you

5:28

should be focusing on? No. But if we're

5:30

thinking about optimizing your hormones

5:33

and you know optimizing your calorie

5:36

burning you know system which is

5:38

generally your thyroid that controls

5:40

your metabolism and your metabolism is

5:42

like how many calories uh that you're

5:44

burning. That's how I refer to it

5:46

anyway. Um we want to focus on how to

5:48

nurture that. All right. Over just

5:50

thinking about, okay, how can we raise

5:52

this number that we're burning by doing

5:54

more and more exercise so that we can

5:56

eat more and maybe even spill over

5:58

because, you know, we're working out

6:00

more, tiring ourselves out, getting

6:02

super stressed. And when you get

6:03

stressed, you want to eat more and then

6:05

you get into this yo-yoing uh spot where

6:08

you're just like tuckering yourself out

6:10

and then binge eating afterwards because

6:12

you're so damn tired. All right, so

6:15

three days a week is all that you need.

6:16

Monday, Wednesday, Friday. And uh as as

6:20

far as being a a healthy uh and active

6:24

adult right now, um if you want to do

6:27

cardio to work on your cardiovascular

6:29

health, like that's great. That's

6:31

something that you should focus on. I'm

6:33

talking about how to get lean, how to

6:35

look better naked in this video and have

6:37

the energy of a rockstar. If your

6:39

testosterone is in check, that's where

6:40

you have that rockstar energy. That's

6:42

where, you know, you have the energy of

6:43

a teenager all the time. And instead of

6:47

you feeling like you just left a war

6:48

zone every time you leave the gym, you

6:50

should leave the gym feeling energized.

6:52

Like the way I work out, um I focus on,

6:55

you know, creating uh positive feedback

6:58

loops in the body. So I get pretty much

7:01

addicted to the high of hitting personal

7:03

records. And that's another reason why

7:06

I'll stay in the gym longer. That's the

7:08

second um thing that I want to go over

7:10

right here. Positive feedback loops. All

7:13

right.

7:14

positive

7:16

feedback loops.

7:23

Now, if you don't know what I mean by

7:24

this, let's talk about a negative

7:26

feedback loop. Let's stay on the David

7:29

Gogggins thing. Why do why do people not

7:33

have the physique that they want? It's

7:35

because the the way that most people

7:38

assume that you get in shape is by doing

7:40

a bunch of cardio, doing a bunch of

7:42

weightlifting workouts, eating some

7:45

disgusting bodybuilding bodybuilding

7:47

diet, chicken, rice, and veggies, kale,

7:50

all this crap, right? And um you know, I

7:54

I got to be in the gym six or seven days

7:56

a week. I got to have no social life. I

7:58

got to I got to only drink water. I got

8:00

to like, you know, all this different

8:03

stuff that is just not fun. Okay, that

8:06

is not a life worth living. All right, I

8:09

I have this this saying sometimes. Don't

8:12

think about what's going to get you the

8:14

quickest results in the shortest amount

8:15

of time. You know, whatever your goal

8:17

might be. Just think about how do you

8:19

want to be living your life in 10 years.

8:21

Just start doing that now because that's

8:23

what's going to help you stay consistent

8:24

long term. All right. Um it's it's and

8:28

and that consistency uh thing is why

8:31

this is important because what keeps you

8:34

consistent, you know, things that

8:36

actually give you a return on your

8:37

investment. When you are trying to

8:40

create a calorie deficit and you're

8:41

doing these workouts which tucker you

8:43

out, make you feel like crap and you're

8:44

eating all this food which is

8:46

demoralizing really. It tastes

8:47

disgusting. It's not appetizing. It's

8:49

not exciting. You can't be excited about

8:51

it. People make fun of you for doing it

8:53

and all this different stuff. um you

8:55

know what does that do to you?

8:57

Especially if you're not getting the

8:59

results that you want, which a lot of

9:00

people doing those plans don't get

9:02

results or they just like snap before

9:04

the point where they were able to even

9:06

know if it actually worked. Um what does

9:09

that all do? It it keeps you from the

9:11

results and it doesn't actually pay off.

9:13

Okay. So what is a positive feedback

9:16

loop? A positive feedback loop is where

9:18

you put effort in, you get a return on

9:20

your investment, and the way that you

9:23

put effort in was actually relatively

9:25

enjoyable. All right, so there's a

9:27

couple of things going on here, and

9:28

there's varying degrees of positive

9:30

feedback loops because a negative

9:32

feedback loop could be something that

9:33

you hate doing, like eating food that's

9:35

gross or doing workouts that suck or,

9:37

you know, doing some other crazy health

9:39

hack that nobody can really see

9:41

themselves doing long term. But there is

9:44

a certain neutral position, right?

9:46

there's negative feedback loop, then

9:47

there's like neutral feedback loop,

9:49

which which is okay. Like that and above

9:51

is where we want to be. Neutral feedback

9:53

loop might be like um you know, for me,

9:56

I don't actually like the taste of Greek

9:59

yogurt. You know, I have that that uh

10:01

Greek yogurt bowl. I call it the gut

10:03

bucket. Um you know, I talk about it on

10:05

my Instagram sometimes. Maybe I'll do

10:06

one of those on on a YouTube video soon.

10:09

But I don't actually like the taste of

10:12

yogurt. That might be surprising to hear

10:14

from some people, but I am willing to

10:17

consume yogurt, that big tub every

10:19

single day because that's 80 grams of

10:21

protein. In one shot, I get half of my

10:23

protein for the day. And personally, I

10:26

can just stylize it however I want.

10:28

That's why why I put um you know, some

10:30

some 100% pure maple syrup in there,

10:32

some salon cinnamon. Um you know, I put

10:35

a fruit of my choice, which generally

10:37

has been blueberries recently. In the

10:39

past, I've done bananas, raisins for the

10:41

boron content. I put blackberries on

10:43

when we were away at the lakehouse a few

10:45

weeks ago. Like you just stylize it

10:47

however you want to, right? Like um I I

10:50

was telling one of my clients the other

10:51

day, I kind of do this this whole diet

10:53

thing like I'm going to Chipotle. I I

10:55

pick my base, right? You pick your base,

10:58

which for the whole day, I'm just

11:00

thinking about which food combinations

11:02

add up to the minimum protein

11:04

requirements uh that I need to get in

11:07

every day. For me, it's about, you know,

11:08

at least 160 or 180 because I'm 180

11:11

pound male, right? [snorts]

11:12

So, if I can figure out which food

11:14

combinations add up to that 180, I can

11:17

just structure the rest of my diet

11:18

around that. And for me, historically,

11:20

it's been the Greek yogurt bowl, the big

11:22

tub, which is 80 grams of protein, and a

11:24

pound of ground beef, which is like 88

11:26

if you get 85% lean um or 85 uh% lean

11:32

ground beef. [snorts] Now, that is 88

11:34

grams of protein. 88 plus 80 is one 168,

11:39

right? If I put a little bit of cheese

11:41

in the ground beef and I have some eggs,

11:43

I'm already over 180. And then I can

11:45

just structure the rest of my diet

11:46

around that, right? That's my base. And

11:48

I put whatever toppings on top of it

11:51

that I want to. And you just got to

11:53

figure out which toppings that you enjoy

11:54

and which can help you uh you know be

11:57

indifferent to that that thing that

11:59

you're maybe not even super excited

12:02

about, right? Like that's why like

12:04

nobody wants to come in and do a brutal

12:06

set of squats, you know, on just a

12:08

random day for a random number just to

12:09

beat the hell out of themselves. But if

12:12

you enjoy building strength and you get

12:14

addicted to the high of building

12:16

strength, maybe the excitement of am I

12:19

going to hit 3:15 on squat this week? Am

12:21

I going to hit 4:15 on or 405 on squat

12:24

next week? Like that's something that

12:26

keeps you back, keeps you coming back.

12:28

That's something that um Sorry, I'm like

12:30

spitting on myself. Um, that's something

12:32

that will keep you engaged. It'll keep

12:35

you excited about it. It'll keep you,

12:37

you know, focused on the bigger better

12:39

picture that you're trying to get after,

12:40

right? That's what makes it interesting.

12:42

And you need something to keep it

12:43

interesting. And that's that's what a

12:45

positive feedback loop is. Uh, with the

12:47

diet specifically, right? You want to be

12:48

eating food that um, hits your macros,

12:52

right? But you actually like eating it.

12:54

So maybe you don't like it by itself,

12:56

but maybe you add something to it that

12:57

makes you like it, like I mentioned with

12:58

the gut bucket example. And it's got to

13:01

be something that nurtures your hormonal

13:04

health. All right? It's gonna it's going

13:06

to improve your overall health and

13:08

wellness. And if you're eating something

13:10

that changes the way that your body is

13:12

shaped, right, it tastes good and it's

13:16

easy to get in and it's practical in

13:18

which you can like, you know, not to say

13:20

that you have to eat like the perfect

13:22

meal every single day. You don't have to

13:24

eat oysters and a steak every single

13:26

day, right? But you figure out how you

13:28

can get quick uh quick good [snorts]

13:30

nutrient-dense food in every single day

13:32

and actually enjoy eating it. What more

13:34

could you want? Because the the food

13:36

that you're eating changes the way that

13:37

your body is shipped. You like how your

13:38

body looks. You feel better. Like you

13:40

have more energy and it tastes good and

13:42

it's just an upward spiral. What you're

13:44

eating, it also boosts your metabolism.

13:46

Now you can eat more food and now you

13:48

can satiate yourself even more. And it's

13:50

going to help you perform in the gym

13:51

better. and you can you can recover from

13:53

those gym workouts that you hit PRs on

13:55

and you're going to sleep extra good at

13:57

night because you tuckered yourself out

13:59

and you're eating the proper amount of

14:00

micronutrients so that you have enough

14:02

magnesium and all these different

14:03

things. It'll help your sleep and your

14:05

gut affects your brain and all

14:06

everything's in an upward spiral

14:08

positive feedback loop and that's kind

14:09

of the key. And this third one that I

14:12

want to go over too

14:14

um be highly so I might abbreviate this

14:18

uh be

14:22

discriminatory.

14:29

Be highly discriminatory

14:31

over anything you consume

14:35

consistently. Be discriminatory over

14:40

what

14:42

you consume

14:45

consume.

14:47

consume

14:50

consistently.

14:51

So, what do I mean by this?

14:56

All right, we've all got that dad. I

14:59

know I do. Now, I'm just breaking my

15:01

dad's chops. We've all got that family

15:04

member that is super overweight, right?

15:07

My dad's actually jacked. He's like my

15:09

size. Um, but we've all got that family

15:12

member. massively overweight,

15:15

horrible diet, horrible lifestyle, and

15:18

when it comes time to have like candy or

15:22

like or like ice cream at the boardwalk

15:25

with your family or you know when you're

15:27

getting dessert, they say, "Oh, no. I

15:30

don't eat sugar." Okay. What What is

15:32

this an example of? Majoring in the

15:34

minor. You don't want to be majoring in

15:37

the minor. You want to be majoring in

15:38

the major. So, what I want you to get

15:41

what I want you to get focused on here

15:43

is think about where you have the most

15:45

leverage. Obviously, it's what's going

15:47

in your mouth. And if you can optimize

15:50

further beyond that, even better, right?

15:53

But think about what you're eating or

15:55

consuming consistently. That's what

15:58

actually matters. In the same way that

16:01

going off your diet one day out of the

16:03

week or or even like one meal out of the

16:05

week is not going to make you fat,

16:08

working out one time is not going to get

16:11

you jacked, right? It's it's like what

16:13

are you doing consistently? What is the

16:15

compounding effect of your efforts over,

16:17

you know, the whole week or the whole

16:18

month? Um, a calorie deficit, trying to

16:20

create that every day, it's actually not

16:22

really that important. It's what happens

16:24

over the course of the week. What's the

16:26

weekly deficit, the monthly deficit?

16:28

What's the monthly surplus if you're

16:30

trying to build muscle, right? It's like

16:32

how are how are you pushing things? Like

16:34

which direction are you pushing things

16:36

based on your efforts on a micro level?

16:38

Because that [snorts] compounding effect

16:40

determines what happens on the macro

16:42

level. All right? So be highly

16:44

discriminatory over anything that you

16:46

consume consistently. This means on

16:48

stuff like you the cinnamon that you put

16:51

on your gut bucket, right? Like the one

16:53

that I get, it's an organic salon

16:55

cinnamon from I think the company

16:57

Frontier Oper or Co-op or something like

16:59

that. [snorts]

17:00

I could very me very well much choose

17:04

the the the discount cinnamon from

17:08

Shopright or whatever that's ridden with

17:10

heavy metals and all sorts of other crap

17:11

that probably isn't cinnamon, right? So,

17:14

so also like the beef that I'm eating

17:17

every single day, pound of beef and a

17:18

big tub of yogurt, I want to get the

17:20

best possible brands for those. Anything

17:23

that I'm going to eat every single day.

17:24

This even bleeds over to uh supplements.

17:27

All right, a supplement, you want to be

17:30

highly highly scrutinous over the

17:32

company that you buy these things from.

17:33

You're going to be eating that every

17:35

single day of your life. Okay? You're

17:37

going to put it in your body and consume

17:38

it and it's going to affect your body

17:40

and your health and your health

17:42

outcomes.

17:43

All right. This is how important this

17:45

stuff is. And if you can be highly

17:47

discriminatory and choose the most

17:49

anabolic foods and the most anabolic

17:52

environment, right? This is not just

17:54

about what goes in your mouth. It's

17:55

about like the the clothes that go on

17:56

your skin. You want cotton, wool, linen,

17:59

things like that. You don't want

18:00

polyester on your balls every single

18:02

day, right? That's literally going to

18:04

nuke your fertility. It's a proven

18:06

contraceptive to have polyester crude

18:09

oilbased fabric on your balls every day.

18:12

All right. And then you can think about

18:14

the air that you're breathing. Like what

18:16

am I breathing on a day-to-day basis? Am

18:18

I huffing fumes from like a a car that's

18:20

overheating? Am I a mechanic, you know,

18:22

breathing in air? Am I um am I bathing

18:26

in water that is ridden with like jet

18:29

fuel and birth control and all these

18:31

different, you know, craps that you find

18:33

in uh in tap water and stuff? Am I um

18:37

you know, am I putting my am I putting

18:40

my laptop on my balls and radiating my

18:43

balls every day? Walking around with my

18:44

my phone in my pocket, radiating my

18:46

balls and destroying my fertility that

18:48

way. What am I doing? Maybe I should

18:50

have said doing consistently, but it

18:52

really is consuming. And it could be

18:54

even the ideas that you consume, right?

18:57

Five depressed people, you start hanging

18:58

out with them, you you're probably going

19:00

to be a sixth depressed person. All

19:02

right? You're a product of your

19:04

environment. Just like your health is

19:06

going to be a product of your diet and

19:08

everything that you consume. So, pick

19:10

the best possible uh ingredients for

19:14

whatever you need to hit your macros and

19:16

obviously uh you know uh you know enjoy

19:20

eating too. Like you can you can make

19:22

healthy versions of the foods that you

19:24

love. I used to spruce up that that

19:26

caveman cereal like a taco bowl, right?

19:29

Instead of just meat and cheese, I would

19:30

put um 100% grass-fed beef. If I would

19:33

have put um what else is it called?

19:36

Organic tortilla chips, an organic

19:38

Mexican style cheese, Primal Kitchen,

19:40

Buffalo sauce, which I just heard the

19:43

the scandal and how they they're not

19:45

using avocado oil and their avocado oil.

19:47

It's all it's all screwed up. But

19:49

anyway, um choosing the best quality

19:52

ingredients to make up the food that I

19:54

want. You can find a sourdough pizza

19:56

place that doesn't use seed oils. They

19:58

use like beef towel or whatever, you

20:00

know, olive oil or something. Um, just

20:02

same deal with ice cream, right? Ice

20:04

cream is actually a superfood. Uh, milk,

20:07

cream, egg yolks, pasture-raised egg

20:10

yolks are different than, you know,

20:12

cage-free or or the regular egg yolks.

20:14

Uh, maple syrup is a little bit better

20:16

than table sugar, right? Um, vanilla

20:19

extract, it it's not like you're going

20:21

to Friendly's or like you're going to

20:23

Dairy Queen or or Crumbled Cookies or

20:26

any of these brands that don't have your

20:28

health in mind. You just choose the best

20:30

quality ingredients to saturate your

20:33

your body with the fuel it needs to

20:37

upregulate your hormonal function

20:39

through your pituitary gland, your

20:41

thyroid, and your your thyroid and your

20:43

your testes. So then you just become an

20:46

anabolic powerhouse and you do this in a

20:48

way that creates positive feedback

20:50

loops. So you're having fun doing it,

20:52

right? And you know, you're you're

20:55

working out in a way to where you enjoy

20:57

the lifts. The lifts change the way your

20:59

body is shaped and you're only doing it

21:02

three days a week. So, you have a day of

21:04

rest in between. You have the ample

21:06

amount of time to recover and to get

21:07

your your uh your energy back before

21:10

getting back into the gym and hitting it

21:12

hard and heavy. And it all just works

21:14

upward spiral, right? Positive feedback

21:16

loops. Choose the right ingredients.

21:18

Choose the right fuel. Be smart. Don't

21:20

just do hard work. And I think I'll

21:23

leave it at that.

Interactive Summary

This video outlines three key anabolic principles for achieving better physical health, increased energy, and muscle growth without resorting to unsustainable 'hustle' methods. The speaker emphasizes that exercise should not be used merely as a tool to burn calories, but rather as a means to build muscle and improve hormonal function. He advocates for creating 'positive feedback loops'—where efforts like training and dietary choices are enjoyable and rewarding—and stresses the importance of being highly discriminatory about the quality of everything one consumes consistently, from food and supplements to environmental factors.
