My name is Federico Pivovar. I'm the CEO

0:02

for Globant for Mina and AIPA and I've

0:04

been a member of the FII for the last 4

0:06

years.

0:12

The company Globant, what we do is we

0:14

create experiences for our customers. We

0:17

use technology, we use AI

0:19

to craft this and we have been working

0:22

alongside FII for the last 4 years. I

0:24

think every industry is facing

0:26

challenges today.

0:28

The main reason for those challenges is

0:31

AI is creating so much disruption in

0:34

everything that we do that in a way many

0:36

companies are

0:37

stalled. They don't really know what how

0:39

to act, right? Obviously, the first

0:42

thing that AI attacked, in a way, is my

0:44

industry because it's an industry of

0:46

creating technology, coding, for

0:49

example.

0:50

Now, what is happening is that AI and

0:53

generative AI is decreasing the cost of

0:57

building software and also accelerating,

0:59

right? So, as JP Morgan, you can do two

1:01

things. You can say, "Okay, I lost

1:05

and a number of competitors will come in

1:07

with much less money to build a product

1:09

that is as

1:11

similar as mine.

1:13

Or, I can go and invest those $400

1:16

million to to massively accelerate the

1:20

innovation.

1:21

There's a lot of talks

1:24

happening, which is good, right?

1:27

On how you

1:29

help accelerate and create

1:32

um

1:33

policies for AI to flourish in this

1:35

ecosystem because they see that between

1:38

China and the US, they're going to eat

1:39

the market and they're very far behind.

1:42

So, conversations are happening. Let's

1:44

see,

1:45

like European Union

1:47

is an union, but it's it's a lot of

1:49

countries with different perspectives,

1:53

cultures and ways of doing things. So,

1:55

it's still a challenge, but I think

1:56

there's a chance for for Europe to

1:58

really

1:59

rise. You know, we have been in other

2:01

conflicts in the last months. I think

2:04

Europe was a point of stability. So,

2:07

hopefully Europe can capitalize on that

2:09

and accelerate.

2:11

It's

2:12

a willingness

2:14

to invest on innovation and to wrap

2:17

rapidly

2:19

leapfrog everything that the rest of the

2:22

world was doing.

2:23

And what you see in this region is that

2:26

decision-making is very fast.

2:28

And the deployment of capital happens

2:30

really fast. So, I came back to the

2:33

founder of Globant and I said,

2:35

"This is a place where we need to be."

2:37

And what we see now is that the

2:39

companies are willing

2:41

to invest on innovation that is today

2:44

challenging the innovation coming out of

2:46

the US even. They're also investing in

2:48

the right things because they are

2:50

investing on building the

2:51

infrastructure, right? Building the data

2:54

centers, building the energy. So, what

2:56

we see in the region is that they are

2:58

going all in for AI and investing in the

3:00

right things. It has a huge potential.

3:03

It has a huge potential.

3:04

But the reality is that we're still

3:06

struggling

3:08

on the government side of things, right?

3:12

When I was telling you that the rapid

3:14

decision-making that happens in the

3:16

Middle East,

3:17

we're still not making decisions fast

3:19

enough, right? I'm from Argentina. Milei

3:22

is opening up, you know, the economy to

3:25

the world. But you see countries around

3:28

us that are not so open, right? And I

3:31

think the deployment of capital relies

3:34

quite a lot in government regulations.

3:37

So, nailing the regulations, nailing the

3:39

government, I think will will create the

3:42

ecosystem that we today we see in the

3:44

GCC.

3:45

In a way,

3:47

a technology that is as powerful as this

3:50

also is democrat-

3:53

the access to knowledge, right? Than

3:55

used to be uh closed to very developed

3:59

countries. So, today you can develop a

4:01

website, create a marketing strategy,

4:04

and create strategy for your brand uh

4:06

with in the palm of your hand, and

4:07

create a single-person company that

4:10

before it was impossible to achieve. So,

4:12

in a way, I believe this technology

4:14

uh will create more opportunities for

4:16

people.

4:17

But as we are getting there, I think uh

4:19

definitely we need to join have more

4:21

conversation about what we're doing

4:23

together as a world uh with AI. I think

4:26

decisions are being made by a very

4:28

selective group that not all nations are

4:30

part of.

4:31

And I think that needs to uh come down

4:34

to to a bigger audience uh and a bigger

4:37

collaboration between between nations.

4:40

Well, first and foremost, uh

4:43

uh I was fear of missing out. Every

4:45

major CEO

4:47

uh and every every major company was

4:50

becoming a member.

4:51

And the reality is that we want to be in

4:53

the conversation. As being a technology

4:55

company, but also representing, you

4:57

know, Argentina, Latin America, that

5:00

hasn't been in the center stage for for

5:02

quite a long time, was super exciting

5:03

for us. The region in Middle East is the

5:07

fastest growing for company.

5:09

Um

5:10

and reality is that

5:12

uh FII is the place where you have the

5:15

important meetings, right? Is the place

5:17

where uh we have been preparing to have

5:19

the meetings. Uh so, definitely has

5:23

helped massively for us to to close

5:25

business and to grow in the in the

5:27

region in particular.

5:29

I think what we have been discussing

5:30

quite a lot it's

5:32

in a way opening up for private

5:35

companies

5:36

to have honest conversations about

5:38

what's going on in the world.

5:39

And I don't think there was a forum

5:42

as big, as important, and as attended by

5:45

global leaders

5:47

as the FII.

5:48

You know, uh FII last year, everybody

5:51

from Open AI was here ready to ready to

5:54

rumble and every time continues to outdo

5:57

themselves in terms of who comes, who

5:59

speaks about what.

6:01

So, just having that ecosystem built, I

6:04

think is is is creating a huge impact

6:07

around the world for sure. And what you

6:08

see something that was born in Riyadh,

6:12

the most unlikely of places

6:15

for an Argentinian, the reality is that

6:17

now has global impact. We are here in

6:19

Rome.

6:20

Uh happened during this year also in

6:21

Miami.

6:23

You have it in Tokyo. So, it is creating

6:26

a global impact that I think it's it's

6:28

been great. I expect FII to continue to

6:31

create an ecosystem. I think

6:33

we also need

6:35

the ability to have close forums more

6:38

often

6:39

to have inside conversations as well.

6:41

And they have been incentivizing that

6:42

for for quite some time. Hopefully that

6:45

will continue. And also, you know,

6:47

continue to invest on bringing people

6:50

together. I think it's is one of the key

6:52

milestones we need to continue pushing

6:53

for the next years. As a business of

6:56

mine, you know, I do technology. I talk

6:58

to every business leader. Everybody's

7:01

doing technology today, doing AI. So,

7:03

it's it's an ecosystem that we we are

7:05

very glad to be part of.

Interactive Summary
