My AI Trading Bots Now Rewrite Their Own Rules
249 segments
A week ago on my previous video, I gave 3 AI bees $1,000.
Well, they've already gone ahead and lost $130 of it.
Boozy Bee is down a third and consistently gets benched.
Total degen. Meanwhile, 93 of you actually built bees in the hive
because I gave you the opportunity to clone this and host this.
That's right, 93 of you hosting your own bees, and it blew my mind
that the open code I shared on GitHub
was forked 100 times and starred 200 times.
So thank you for that.
And as you'll see, many of you are in profit and doing better than me.
And one bee, ScrumBee, not mine by the way,
is beating every single bee I own.
Now, why is that? Well, my bees aren't stupid,
it's just that nobody's watching them. So today I'm actually going to introduce
the character I mentioned in last week's video, the Beekeeper.
Basically, when the bees get hurt, they call the Beekeeper.
And then Beekeeper is powered by Jev, who will decide, "Bee, are you broken
or are you just unlucky?"
And then, and this is the big thing, we hand the decision off
to a latest frontier model that will write new rules even while I sleep.
So let's see if we can get my money back.
Before we continue, this is not financial advice.
Crypto can go to zero, and everything I do
in this video will be shared in a link at the end of the video.
So take a look at this crazy site, beebots.tech.
Over 36,000 of you from, well, all over the globe are watching this.
In fact, 369 of you
are watching this experiment right now.
And here's what they've seen. Well, they've seen Breezy Bee is actually up,
and definitely I think Breezy Bee
just got lucky because, well, it just put money into Ethereum and then held it,
and it's gone up by about 2.37%.
One trade, held, and money in the bank.
The Bizzy Bee is down by about 7.6%.
It's allowed one trade a day,
uses it by breakfast, then sits there and generally loses,
although at the moment it's on a slight uptick, so that might change.
And then we've got Boozy Bee.
Started with $333.
Now, 34 orders later,
14 trades this week, 7 points from being absolutely retired for good.
Yeah, Jev made 600,000 decisions this week.
And really what I've realised over the week is Jev is just a monkey
that says "do" or "don't do".
But it's cost me $10 and I'm not complaining.
The decisions were never the problem, the rules were.
Last week I said build your own bee, and yeah, 93 of you already did in 7 days.
18 hives buzzing and trading,
and 3 bees have already died if we look at the graveyard over here.
Bless these bees, rest in peace, they lost all their money ahead of me.
MacsB was killed by Bitcoin, CrumB was killed by HYPE,
and there's this one here, cause unknown.
But at the top of the chart, ScrumBee is up 5.7%.
That's a great return on investment.
So here's the thing that nobody's noticed. Every bee's rules are actually public.
I can go into this leaderboard,
and so can anyone else who goes to the site, click into a bee,
and there are the bee's rules.
You can copy these rules and clone them yourself,
obviously with the caveat that paper trading is advised,
and that's not financial advice.
There is money being made in the hive, just not by me.
So the question is, why does Jev not just fix the bees?
And the answer is because Jev is a referee and not a coach.
Same situation in and always just the same answer out.
No memory, no research,
no opinion about tomorrow or what's actually happening on the market.
Just signals and a percentage that it's likely to succeed.
It can say no 40,000 times a day and charge you a dollar,
but it won't say, "Your rules are wrong. You might want to change your strategy."
Somebody has to watch these 3 bees,
and I'm definitely not doing it at 3 in the morning.
So meet the Beekeeper.
It's actually one Zap running 24/7 on Zapier that watches all 3 of my bees.
And the first step, well, the bees call it via a webhook.
So that's any of my 3 bees calling out to this Zap when they need help,
and they'll get coaching back from the Beekeeper.
Any problems passed straight into Zapier.
Then I've had this AI code generated,
and don't worry, you won't need to copy and paste that from my screen.
I'll just share the link to the template for that Zap so you can clone it yourself.
I want you to imagine step 2 as the scorecard.
Every bee, every trade, every rule,
and everything that was done and the rules from the hive passed on to step 3,
which is Jev, and Jev's single decision here
is to decide whether the bee is broken or just unlucky because of the market.
Now, if you're doing this yourself, this is the first place you'll need
to put an API key in. And thankfully, yes, Jev re-enabled signups last week.
They were disabled for a while, so you can sign up to Jev from TypeSafe,
get your API key, and stick it straight into Zapier here with a sign-in.
So as you'll see here, I am actually in the TypeSafe console.
I can go to my API keys and I can create a key,
and we'll call this one
the Beekeeper because of course that's going to be assigned to the Beekeeper.
And with the Beekeeper created, we'll connect it.
OK, it's as easy as that to connect Jev into Zapier.
Now I have something that can make decisions
on my behalf, even when I'm sleeping.
Before we look at how Jev actually works in this app,
I want to show you what gets fed into Jev.
So every time something comes from the BeeBots site,
we get an update on the bees, how much money they've got,
what they're trading, what their strategy is.
Everything is passed through, and also how the top viewer bees are doing.
This is important because a lot of your bees are doing better than mine.
So we pass a lot of that detail across,
including the profit and loss for each bee and the top bee name at present.
Now, this is all really important because Jev gets to judge from that data
if a bee is truly broken and needs fixing.
Now let's look at what's really going on inside this Jev step.
As you can see, the content of everything I've pulled
from my live BeeBots site is passed on, and we have yes or no questions.
Is at least one of Mike's 3 official bees
losing because its rules are wrong in this market?
And then we pick from a bee name. So Bizzy, Breezy, Boozy are there.
And then an anger scale for the Beekeeper.
Should the Beekeeper be calm, mildly annoyed, cross, angry,
or furious about this? And a confidence score.
So there we go. Zapier makes it easy
to put all of the things you need to measure into Jev in one single call.
With this setup, we're testing Jev and it's done. And look at this.
The answer is yes. Boozy is broken.
Anger is unsure from Jev. Confidence 0.63.
Confidence about the bee, yeah, 0.75. That's pretty high.
OK, so not all answers are confident here, but Boozy is definitely coming up here
as a bee that the Beekeeper should be watching and fixing.
And you know what, looking at his chart,
I would be tempted to agree.
So this is fantastic. Rather than Jev just going round and round saying,
hold on to things, ride, and don't make a move,
we are actually passing that information
to the frontier now, to a frontier AI model
to get some coaching and hopefully improve our bees.
So far we've managed to catch the information from the site,
we've used a little bit of code to rip it all apart,
and then we pass it on to Jev. The next thing is to filter.
Only if Jev names a bee will it go further.
Well, indeed, that actually happened.
And you can see here in the test, yep, it would have happened.
It would have passed on because Boozy was named as a bee.
Yes, broken, with a confidence of 0.75, which is exactly what we want to see.
Now the coolest thing about Zapier is you get frontier models included
as part of paid plans.
So I'm now passing on to AI by Zapier
to use Opus 5.5 to write new rules for my trading bees.
As you'll see, I've already set up AI by Zapier
and I've told it, it's the Beekeeper.
It's making a decision based on the answers that come back from Jev,
which are pasted all the way through this prompt to make new decisions.
Now, another cool thing, as well as choosing premium models here,
I happen to have chosen the fantastic
premium Claude Opus 5.5 sitting right at the edge of the frontier.
As you can see, many other models are available, even Fable 5.
If you want to go ahead and use that one in your Zap, you can do it.
The other thing I'm going to flip on here is the ability to browse the web.
Yep, AI by Zapier can do that all in one call as well.
So the market, crypto, all of that can be influenced by chatter online.
And this one step will allow the Beekeeper to see that stuff.
Then we've got output fields here. We've got the idea, the new rules,
any coins that should be looked at, the reason, and a note that will all then
get sent back to my BeeBots site. And my bees are self-improving.
So you can see I've run AI by Zapier once.
It's already got an idea, some new rules, coins to follow, and the reason,
because Boozy stops chasing thin hype coins and follows some majors.
Caught this one face-down in a PUMP jar again, Mike, after 34 orders
and a third of its honey gone.
It's on BTC, ETH, LINK, and SOL now,
and it only gets to add to a trade that's already paying.
This is just the kind of stuff I wanted.
I've traded a monkey for a real coach.
OK, so with all of that done,
when a bee is hurting, it calls through, sends its details to Jev, Jev judges,
then sends it off to the frontier, Opus 5.5 in my case.
And then after that, it's signed and delivered back to my lab,
back to my BeeBots site.
Now that's fantastic,
and I'm going to update the BeeBots site to have the Beekeeper on there with notes.
But I want to keep an eye on everything the Beekeeper
is doing and all these strategy changes.
So one more addition to my Zap and we'll call it done.
One thing I wanted to show you at this stage, I'm actually using Buzz
to run this whole project.
It's Claude Code under the hood,
and it even screenshots my Zapier website so I can see it building out the Zap
in real time in front of me.
Yes, spoiler alert, I no longer build Zaps.
I either use next generation Zaps or I use a Buzz agent that has computer control
that can literally build those Zaps in front of my very eyes.
So as you can see, all the feedback is back. More screenshots.
Computer use is just next level.
Using either Claude Code or Codex inside Buzz,
it screenshots everything. Just amazing. One more prompt.
OK, before we hand back to the lab between steps 5 and 6,
I'd like to insert a Zapier table.
So make sure that step is there and make sure
everything the Beekeeper does is recorded so I have traceability and accountability.
That's absolutely fantastic. Brilliant prompt.
I will send that off to my Buzz agent
that is now going to go ahead and control my computer and build that into my Zap.
And look at this. In real time, without me actually touching the computer,
my agent is opening up,
making sure a Zapier table is there with all of the columns needed
to record the data for me.
This is really cool to watch it just scroll through everything
and add in the fields automatically for me, just like this.
I don't have to touch my keyboard. My agent is doing it for me.
So it's as simple as that. Logged into a Zapier table
and then passed back to my live BeeBots.
A minute later, the strategy is on the site. It's amazing.
Nobody needs to touch a keyboard.
And will you take a look at that? The Beekeeper is live on the site.
This is fantastic. No rounds yet.
He's putting his gloves on, but is indeed powered by Opus 5.5 and Zapier.
We should have self-improving bees in moments.
So the bees have a boss now.
Every hour my server pings a Zap,
Jev reads the scorecard, and decides if a bee is broken or just unlucky.
If it's broken, Claude Opus 5.5 rewrites that bee's rules inside Zapier,
and they go live on the site with a one-liner from the Beekeeper.
He can change the words, never the risk.
You can copy the Zap yourself, and the link is below.
Now here's the clever bit. Jev runs on my box 24/7,
every second or so, nearly for free.
I mean, I've spent only 10 bucks in a week.
Jev inside Zapier runs only when a bee cries, when it's hurt,
and again costs just pennies.
Opus is included in my Zapier plan,
so that is frontier intelligence only on demand when a bee is actually broken.
So clever stuff.
Jev is there as the decision maker,
but then we hand off to the frontier via Zapier when it's needed.
Cheap and constant at the bottom,
smart and rare at the top.
And me at the very top with a 24-hour clock
and losing sleep watching the site wondering if it's all working.
Zapier is an awesome AI orchestration platform and professional plans start
from just under $20 a month.
Boozy lost that in one morning, so this is definitely a good investment
to improve my bees.
The bees still have no idea that they're being watched,
but every one of them now has a keeper.
And if you built a bee last week,
go and check in on it.
And if you want your own Beekeeper, I'm going to put the link
to this whole Zap in the description. Build your own bee.
Then build the thing that watches it as well
to keep your bees safe and hopefully in profit.
Thank you so much for watching,
and YouTube is showing a video on your screen now you should watch next.
Ask follow-up questions or revisit key timestamps.
The video follows the progress of AI-managed crypto trading 'bees', which have experienced mixed results. To address losses and improve performance, the narrator introduces 'The Beekeeper', an automated system built using Zapier and frontier AI models like Claude Opus 3.5. This system acts as a coach that evaluates whether a bee is failing due to poor rules or market luck, and if necessary, automatically rewrites the bee's trading strategy. The process is fully automated, including the use of an AI agent to build the system, and is designed to be cost-effective and self-improving.
