Genesis and we're listening to a song
called Firth of Fifth. Now, you guys
have been on me for a very, very long
time now to react to Genesis and I'm
sorry it has taken me so long, but we
are finally doing it today. Finally. I
know some of you guys have waited a long
time for this. So, I'm excited to see
what they're all about and I'm excited
to see what this song is all about,
especially because it is almost 10
minutes long. Holy cow. So, before you
begin the reaction, you guys, if you
like my content and want to join me on
my musical journey of discovery, please
be sure to like and share the video as
well as subscribe to the channel as it

get into the reaction. All right, you
guys, this is Genesis, Firth of Fifth.
Let's get started.

[music]
[music]
>> Wow.
>> [music]
>> Holy piano.
>> [music]
[music]
>> Wow.
>> I feel like I'm at a classical musical
concert. Classic music concert.
>> [music]
>> Never mind. [music]
>> [music]
>> Ooh,
I like that bass.
>> [music and singing]
[music]
[music]
[music]
>> Is this Phil Collins, right? He's in
this band?
>> [music]
[music]
[music]
[music]
[singing]
[music]
[music]
>> I'm dying on songs
urged the sailors
on
>> [music]
>> till lured
by the sirens
cry.
>> Ooh, baby.
All right, I'm going to pause right
here. What a production. Holy cow. So,
this is my first impression of Genesis
and I can see why you guys have wanted
me to react to them for some time now.
We are 3 minutes into the song and I
already feel like I've been on a musical
journey already with this with this
music. I know that Phil Collins was in
this band
uh but I don't think that's him singing.
It doesn't sound like him. Maybe it's
Peter Gabriel. I remember Peter Peter
Gabriel is also in this band as well.
So, yeah. Uh
I don't know.
>> [laughter]
>> I'm not entirely sure. Again, this is my
first impression impression of Genesis.
I have reacted to both Phil Collins and
Peter Gabriel separately, individually
when they were doing, you know, their
own thing
uh as solo artists. So, hearing them
together and hearing this band as a
whole is a whole new experience. It's
it's a really crazy journey so far. That
piano at the beginning was so beautiful
and then they catch you off guard with a
bang of instrumentation, with a bang of
a guitar and drums and yeah, it's really
cool. It sounds like we are about to get
back into the piano which I really like.
The piano playing at the beginning was
superb. I feel like I was in this fancy
concert hall listening to a piano
concert with that uh whole beginning
piano part right there. It was really
neat. So, let's continue.
>> sirens [music] cry
>> Who is it playing piano?
>> [music]
[music]
[music]
>> Such a journey.
Flute?
Wow.
>> [music]
>> This is a cool part.
I like that.
Ooh.
Mhm.
Yes.
Okay.
>> [music]
>> This piano is so good.
>> [music]
[music]
>> Holy crap.
>> [music]
>> Wow.
>> [music]
[music]
[music]
>> Holy crap.
Damn.
>> [music]
[music]
[music]
>> Ooh.
I like that transition.
>> [music]
[music]
[music]
>> Piercing solo.
>> [music]
>> Got an organ.
>> [music]
[music]
>> Ow.
>> [music]
[music]
[music]
[music]
[music]
>> Jeez. [music]
>> [music]
[music]
[music]
>> Explosion.
>> [music]
[music]
[music]
[music]
[music]
>> Guys, that bass is so good.
Amazing.
Wow, what a piercing and blazing guitar
solo that was. Holy crap.
>> [music]
>> How do we go from a piano, like we did
at the beginning, to that? Crazy.
>> [music]
>> Now as the reaper
>> [music]
>> dissolves
the sheep.
So yet you has [music] claimed another
soul.
>> [music]
>> Damn.
>> And so with gods and men, the sheep
remain [music]
inside their pen until the shepherd
leads his flock away.
>> [music]
>> The sands of time where we
roll
and ride
>> [music]
>> the
river
of constant
change.
>> Wow.
>> [music]
>> That was a journey.
Back to the piano.
Huh.
Full circle.
Wow, what a
What an experience
that was.
A musical roller coaster to say the
least.
>> [gasps and sighs]
>> Geez, I feel kind of spent after
listening to this song. I think because
there's just so much happening. This was
a musical roller coaster like I said
before.
Huh.
It was beautiful. It was masterful,
dramatic, and elegant, and so many
different things. At times I felt like I
was at a rock concert, at times I felt
like I was at a piano concert. It was
crazy. So many things about this song
that I really loved. Phil Collins behind
the drum kit, oh my god, just hearing
him kind of just go off and be
aggressive behind the drum kit was so
cool. And then that bass was quite
lovely. I enjoyed the bass throughout
this song. And then the piano, we kind
of have this song sandwiched between
piano. Just solo piano work, and I
really, really like that as well.
Whoever played the piano for this song
and
was incredible. I It didn't sound easy
at all. And then I also have to say I
really enjoyed that flute. I was not
expecting the flute to show up in this
song, but then again, there were so many
elements and instruments to this song
that I didn't expect to show up. It just
kept me on my toes. And then there's
that guitar solo. That blaring, blazing
guitar solo. Oh my gosh. That
That sent me to another dimension. There
were just so many parts of this song
that
just threw me for a loop that I truly
enjoyed.
Everyone is so talented in this group
and to be able to make a song that is
almost 10 minutes long and then make it
feel like it goes by so quickly, I think
is a talent in of itself. I feel like I
was just being transported again to
another dimension and just kind of let
the music take me wherever it wanted me
to go. And just let the music take me
for this ride that
I didn't want to get off of. It was
really really great to listen to this
song. And just even thinking about that
solo is giving me goosebumps. I'm not
going to lie. It was just Ooh, it just
it goes right through you. Oh my gosh,
it's so crazy. It It was a really really
great song, really great solo. Just so
again dramatic, so uh prominent, very
interesting to listen to and just Yeah,
I don't know. I don't even know how to
describe it. This was just a very
complex piece of music that you just
know that
not just anyone could create or and not
just anyone could play and give it
justice. I feel like a lot of musicians
and a lot of people who actually study
music, maybe music theorists and
composers and things like that, probably
have a field day with this song. Even me
who is not musically trained, I've never
played an instrument, don't sing,
nothing, I'm still just
able to grasp like the musicianship and
the talent within this song and the
difficulty within this song. I feel like
this is just so hard to play. But
regardless, it's so brilliant. It's so
raw. I just enjoyed it from beginning to
end and I'm finally glad I reacted to
>> [sighs]
>> Genesis. It's been a long time coming.
It really has. I just love how
intentional every note was, how
intentional every instrument was.
Um, it was creative yet so structured.
Again, there were just so many different
aspects that transported me to a
different place. Um, whether it was like
a rock concert, a classical music
concert. I just love how intentional
this song was between
all the instruments that were used to
make this song, all the transitions, all
the different feelings. Again, the
musical roller coaster that it gave. Uh,
gosh, it's hard to pick a favorite part
from this song. I don't know. I I don't
I think I'll have to listen to it a few
more times to be able to pick out a
favorite part. But you guys should
definitely tell me what your favorite
part was. Was it the flute? Was it the
piano? Was it, uh, the guitar solo? I
don't know.
I don't know. There is so much
happening. There's so much to this song.
It's crazy. So, yeah. Anyway, I could
probably go on and on and on about it.
But I feel satisfied after listening to
this song. I feel kind of spent after
listening to this song just because
there is so much happening here. But I
think I will definitely have to listen
to it again. This isn't a piece you just
listen to once and then you're done with
it. There's a lot of replayability with
this song and I feel like with each new
listen through you probably catch
something new.
And that's what makes it exciting. So, I
think that will do for today's reaction.
