>> Welcome back to the Growth Boss podcast

0:10

where we seek out the secrets to

0:11

high-performing campaigns from some of

0:13

the smartest marketers in the world. I'm

0:15

your host Jared Smith. Today I have Yash

0:18

Singh with me and he's going to teach us

0:20

how to get 23 plus leads per week using

0:23

Google Business Profile and AI. Yash is

0:26

the founder of Trade Ops Consulting

0:28

where he helps HVAC and home services

0:30

companies generate a steady flow of

0:32

quality leads. He began his career

0:34

running a marketing agency and helping

0:36

more than 150 businesses improve their

0:38

visibility on Google and AI on platforms

0:40

like ChatGPT. After years of working

0:43

across different industries, Yash chose

0:45

to focus exclusively on home services

0:47

with a special emphasis on HVAC

0:50

companies. Yash, thank you so much for

0:52

being here today.

0:53

>> Thanks a lot for having me, Jared.

0:55

Really appreciate it.

0:56

>> Absolutely. So, Yash, 23 leads a week, I

0:59

think most business owners would be

1:01

drooling over that. I want to learn how

1:04

you do that on both GBP profiles and AI.

1:07

Let's start with AI. AI is such a hot

1:10

item right now. Most people are using an

1:13

LLM like Claude or ChatGPT to certainly

1:16

search for things but even run their

1:18

companies. So, I know a lot of people

1:20

are wondering, especially in the home

1:22

service and local business market, how

1:24

they can improve their rankings there.

1:26

And just again, before you say anything,

1:28

I just want to reference to to

1:29

entrepreneurs out there, really

1:31

regardless of what industry you're in, I

1:34

understand a lot of people aren't

1:35

necessarily in home services. You're

1:37

going to have some really big takeaways

1:39

here today because so much of what works

1:41

in one niche can work in others. There's

1:44

nuances obviously that are going to be

1:46

unique to home services, but I'm willing

1:48

to to bet based on doing this for over

1:50

20 years that 95% of what Yash shares

1:54

today is going to be relevant for a lot

1:56

of different businesses. So, Yash, go

1:57

ahead and walk us through how you're

2:00

able to generate that lead flow. Again,

2:02

starting with AI, what is kind of the

2:04

secret recipe for getting an AI these

2:06

days?

2:07

>> Sure. And before I move

2:09

on with the question that you asked me,

2:10

Jared, first of all, same thing what you

2:12

said. Most of the stuff that I'm going

2:14

to talk about it's going to work for all

2:16

the industries, no matter what. Reason

2:18

being, core or the base remains the

2:20

same. It's just that you just need to

2:22

change a bit of stuff to perfectly work

2:25

for your industry. Now, coming to your

2:27

question, the first part,

2:29

how are we generating these amount of

2:31

leads? And second, how are we

2:33

getting on the AI and LLMs? How are we

2:36

ranking our businesses on there, right?

2:38

That was your question.

2:39

>> Yeah.

2:39

>> Perfect. So, in a nutshell, AI

2:42

specifically works a lot around

2:45

consensus. Okay? Consensus is basically

2:48

how much times you can push your company

2:51

or how frequently you can get your

2:53

company to be

2:55

mentioned

2:57

for a specific set of keywords, phrases,

3:00

or questions, anything on the AI or

3:02

LLMs. Okay? Here's an instance of that.

3:05

For instance, if I am in Tucson,

3:07

Arizona, and I'm searching for an

3:09

emergency AC repair company who can who

3:12

could come today and get my AC repair.

3:15

And if I go on ChatGPT and I search for

3:18

best AC repair company in Tucson,

3:20

Arizona, something like that.

3:22

What ChatGPT is basically doing is is

3:25

basically going on the internet or

3:26

whatever information it has and checking

3:29

through the information and seeing the

3:31

consensus of all of those companies

3:33

being mentioned and showing you the best

3:35

possible results. It's not very

3:37

different than Google, how Google or SEO

3:40

is being done. It's just that the the

3:43

major focus has been on listicles,

3:45

links, mentions, and stuff like that.

3:47

So, it's more of off-page SEO than the

3:50

usual content stuff that we used to do,

3:53

you know? For instance,

3:55

the on-page or the basic on-page SEO

3:57

that you do, the information that you

3:59

put on your website, directories,

4:01

everything remains exactly the same how

4:03

we used to do SEO. It's just that the

4:06

listicles that you do, for instance, you

4:07

will find that on Yelp you have got

4:09

something like best AC repair companies

4:11

or best HVAC contractor next Y city.

4:13

That stuff, if you're being referenced

4:15

there, if you're being referenced on

4:16

Houzz Houzz is basically something

4:19

really important for your home service.

4:20

If you're being referenced on Triple B,

4:22

if you're being referenced on all of

4:24

these other important directories or

4:26

websites, anywhere you can see a

4:28

listicle where it's it's mentioning

4:30

couple of different companies and the

4:32

better your rank is, the more chances

4:34

you have being mentioned on ChatGPT,

4:37

Claude, Perplexity, anything like that.

4:39

>> Okay, let's talk a little bit about

4:40

listicles. A lot of talk these days

4:42

about listicles. We use a lot of

4:43

listicles with our agency. They've been

4:45

very helpful. Walk us through how you

4:48

develop a listicle. How do you choose

4:50

the competitors to include on there?

4:52

Where do you publish your listicles? How

4:54

do you kind of determine where you're

4:55

going to publish them? Walk us through

4:57

what that looks like.

4:58

>> Sure. So, there mainly two stuff here,

5:01

right? First of all, getting on all of

5:03

the important directories. Let's say

5:05

Yelp, Yellow Pages, Triple B. You have

5:08

to know what all are the important

5:10

directories for your specific industry.

5:12

For home service or for HVAC, these

5:14

might be the industries. For a personal

5:16

injury lawyer, that's going to be

5:17

different, you know? So, you'll have to

5:19

first of all know what all are the

5:21

really important directories in your

5:23

specific industry. That's the first

5:24

thing. You have to make sure that you

5:26

are in there. If needed, go pay Triple

5:30

B. I mean, yes, it might not be worth it

5:33

for just Triple B accreditation, but it

5:35

could be really worth it for the

5:36

mention. 500, 600 bucks annually, that's

5:38

not that much. You you get what I mean,

5:40

right? So, yes, first of all, make sure

5:42

you are there on all of those important

5:44

directories where AI is sourcing

5:46

information from. First thing. Second,

5:49

having your own listicles. Now, press

5:51

release works pretty fine if you're in

5:54

kind of low competitive industry or an

5:56

area with less than 100,000 population.

5:59

It used to work great 6 months ago, but

6:02

now since a lot of people have always

6:04

spammed the heck out of it, now those

6:06

same sources are being referenced in

6:07

ChatGPT now or any other AI. Sources are

6:11

being changed. Sources

6:13

or the authoritative sources are being

6:15

taken compared to if or if you think of

6:17

6:19

where most of your press release

6:20

campaigns were getting quoted or were

6:23

being sourced in the information for any

6:25

local SEO specific terms. Now, that's

6:27

not happening. You have to push more on

6:30

authoritative websites. And what I mean

6:32

by authoritative websites, it's more of

6:34

how we used to do parasite SEO. Now, I

6:37

know I'm again introducing another

6:39

jargon here, parasite SEO and stuff like

6:41

that. But in a nutshell, first thing,

6:43

make sure that the website where you're

6:45

publishing any listicle is authoritative

6:48

enough. Second, it gets relevant traffic

6:50

on relevant keywords. And third, the

6:52

listicles What was the question of which

6:55

which was how do you exactly include the

6:57

competitors? How we do that? We usually

7:01

list ourselves as a top company or the

7:03

second company depending on how many

7:04

listicles we are doing every single

7:05

month. It's either going to be first or

7:07

second position and then we have got

7:09

pros, cons, or benefits or anything like

7:11

that. And then all the certifications.

7:14

For instance, if you were choosing,

7:15

let's say, the best HR company in XY

7:18

city through Nextdoor, you know, or any

7:20

other something any other certificate or

7:22

something like that. We make sure that

7:24

for us at least we mention all of those

7:26

stuff because that's very important.

7:28

Right?

7:29

Then we source competitors usually from

7:32

those other directories. For instance,

7:34

I'll check Yelp, I'll check Triple B,

7:35

I'll check couple of different other

7:37

directories and see a common pattern. I

7:38

usually have I have a cloud skill for

7:40

this that just goes and checks all these

7:42

competitors who are being referenced

7:44

frequently on all of these tech piece

7:46

and then I take competitors from it

7:47

there and then we just add them.

7:49

>> Yeah, beautiful. Let's talk a little bit

7:50

about parasite SEO. Some of the business

7:52

owners and and marketers that listen to

7:54

this may not fully understand what that

7:56

is, but this is, you know, an important

7:58

thing to know these days in 2026. So,

8:01

walk people through a little bit about

8:03

what parasite SEO is and what are some

8:06

of the sites that you're using to

8:07

publish these articles on, you know, in

8:09

that realm.

8:10

>> Sure. So, basically parasite SEO

8:13

is a concept where you publish content

8:16

on other high-quality or

8:18

high-authoritative third-party websites.

8:20

It could be Reddit, could be LinkedIn,

8:21

could be any other guest posting website

8:23

that for instance Forbes or something

8:25

like that. You use those specific

8:27

websites to rank quickly on Google or

8:29

any other place, right? Because if you

8:31

are going to do the same with your own

8:33

website, it might take longer to rank.

8:36

That's the concept of parasite SEO. Now,

8:39

how are we sourcing them? Really depends

8:41

on

8:43

the industry first of all and then

8:44

second also the city. For some cities,

8:47

Reddit is working great, okay? Reddit

8:50

Reddit is being referenced a lot. So, in

8:52

those cities, we are using Reddit to

8:54

make sure that our business is being

8:57

used as a as an information source or is

8:59

being referenced for those certain terms

9:01

like AC repair, HVAC company or anything

9:03

like that. For other businesses, what we

9:06

are seeing is couple of specific press

9:08

release websites are working great. If I

9:10

could give you an instance, I'm not sure

9:12

if if I can mention any specific vendor

9:14

here.

9:15

>> Sure, go ahead.

9:15

>> But, yeah, sure. So, I'm using two guys

9:18

specifically for press release. One is

9:19

the news guy, Randy Road. I love that

9:21

guy. Uh he has got some great stuff.

9:24

Another one is We Follow Gigs. We do use

9:26

their service as well. So, We Follow

9:28

Gigs basically has our smaller campaign

9:31

stuff. For instance, if you don't want

9:33

to publish on 400 websites or 100

9:34

websites, you can just go and choose one

9:37

specific publication that's going to

9:38

just publish on 20, 15, 10 specific

9:41

websites. So, these are the two that I'm

9:43

using, but if you are in a competitive

9:47

industry, let's say personal injury

9:49

lawyer,

9:50

you are not really going to see results

9:51

coming from press release. You'll

9:53

probably have to purchase something like

9:55

a guest post where you have your own

9:58

listicle, right? And that guest post

9:59

website needs to

10:01

be really, really kind of related to

10:03

what you're focusing or what your

10:05

service is. For instance, if I'm an Hvac

10:07

company, I'm going to make sure that the

10:09

guest post, the listicle guest post that

10:11

I'm publishing on the website, it's on a

10:13

website that just talks about home

10:15

service and gets certain amount of

10:16

traffic, is ranking for home service

10:18

specific keywords. All that.

10:19

>> Yeah, I love it. And it is it does make

10:21

sense. And it's just important for

10:22

everybody to understand, you know, the

10:24

competition level of your niche dictates

10:28

the specific strategies that are

10:30

involved, right? So, what Yash is saying

10:32

is if you're in a highly competitive

10:34

niche, you know, press releases aren't

10:35

going to be enough. But if you're in a

10:37

low competitive niche, that may be all

10:39

you need, which is really amazing. And

10:41

again, if you're in a low to mid

10:43

competition niche, you can publish your

10:46

articles on these free websites, Medium,

10:49

LinkedIn, Yash mentioned LinkedIn,

10:51

Reddit. These are all free websites that

10:53

you can publish your content, publish

10:54

your listicles on, and they're highly

10:57

trusted. They generate millions of

10:58

visits every month because they're

11:00

extremely authoritative in Google. And

11:03

so, that's, you know, kind of one of the

11:04

main measurements that we use, you know,

11:07

uh personally, is if they're not

11:09

generating a bunch of traffic from

11:10

Google, they're not trusted. It doesn't

11:11

matter what their DA is or, you know,

11:14

however you're tracking authority. But

11:15

just a real quick, you know, kind of fun

11:17

story. So, my mother-in-law launched a

11:20

pet sitting business just about 6 months

11:23

ago. And again, not very competitive,

11:25

right? So, we used LinkedIn, we used a

11:28

number of kind of, you know, free

11:29

sources to publish articles, and we were

11:32

able to get her ranked in GBP, in AI, in

11:36

Google within about 60 days. She's

11:39

ranking number one, you know, just

11:41

publishing content on all these free

11:43

sources. So, I think some people look at

11:46

free sources and they're like, "Oh, it

11:47

can't be that good." But again, Google

11:49

trusts LinkedIn. Google trusts Reddit.

11:52

So, you It's in your best interest to

11:54

utilize those. So, that's great. What

11:56

else is kind of needed? You've got the

11:58

listical thing going, you know, are

11:59

there any other changes that business

12:01

owner would need to make to get ranked

12:02

in AI?

12:03

>> Yeah, and just to add to what you said,

12:05

YouTube is another fantastic thing

12:07

that's being referenced a lot in AI. So,

12:09

that's another free source. So, talking

12:11

about the exact stuff that you

12:12

mentioned, listicals and then making

12:14

sure we are on those directories, Yelp,

12:16

Yellow Pages, everything. Again, it

12:18

depends on what specific industry you're

12:20

working with. If you're into personal

12:22

injury, if you're into SaaS, it's going

12:24

to be different than what I'm saying.

12:26

But, you're just a quick click away to

12:29

just uh kind of, you know, check what

12:31

all directories are important for your

12:32

specific industry. Third, is your own

12:34

website. You have to make sure that the

12:37

website, the homepage specifically,

12:39

has all the information about you,

12:41

certification.

12:43

I'll tell you one thing. We actually did

12:45

a test, I guess, last month itself here.

12:47

We tested adding those certifications,

12:50

for instance, triple B accreditation,

12:53

XYZ number of reviews on Google, Yelp,

12:55

Facebook, and then Nextdoor awards and

12:57

stuff like that. We tried removing that,

13:00

and we tried adding that, and we saw

13:03

position changes of up to six position

13:05

on Google. Just by doing that, you know?

13:08

>> Yes.

13:08

>> We were Previously, we were in position

13:10

12, but by adding that, we went and we

13:12

Our position jumped to six position

13:14

within 2 days, you know? So, that's

13:17

something really important. And what

13:18

you'll see is that specific stuff will

13:20

be referenced in ChatGPT as well when

13:23

it's actually mentioning your business.

13:24

So, for instance, if your business is

13:27

being mentioned for XYZ service, it's

13:29

going to pull those certificates. It's

13:31

It's going to pull those reviews and

13:33

everything from your website, your GBP.

13:36

So, make sure that you're having all of

13:38

those conversion-specific metrics on

13:41

your website. Second, have all the

13:43

service pages. That's again something

13:45

very important. For instance, this is

13:47

again an instance of my specific

13:50

industry that might differ if you're

13:51

into a different one, but a lot of times

13:53

if you're a single-location business,

13:56

let's say if you just work in Tucson,

13:58

okay?

13:59

AC repair is a sub-service of HVAC. Yet,

14:03

you'll find that AC is being ranked from

14:06

the homepage most of the times.

14:08

>> Mhm.

14:09

>> Okay? So, what I'm saying is even if if

14:12

you just Google and search for AC repair

14:13

Tucson, Arizona, you'll find that most

14:15

of the homepages are actually ranking

14:17

and not their service pages. Right? And

14:20

a lot of times I see people not having

14:22

those service pages. That's something

14:24

that actually affects your Yeah, because

14:26

Are you Jerry, are you aware of IMG

14:28

courses by any chance?

14:29

>> Yeah. Yeah.

14:30

>> by Kyle Roof. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I was

14:32

talking to someone

14:33

>> I have it open right now. If I could

14:35

share my tabs, I literally have a

14:38

little, you know, deal with the pillars

14:40

in there. I'm going through it again, so

14:42

yeah.

14:42

>> I have my course on that platform, and I

14:45

was actually talking to someone from

14:47

their platform, right? And we were

14:49

talking about the same stuff. The

14:50

service pages, specifically for local

14:52

SEO, if you're into local SEO. The

14:53

service pages that you have on your

14:55

website, that influences AI as well.

14:57

Doesn't matter if if Google is not

14:59

showing your service page for AC repair,

15:02

that doesn't matter. But it's You still

15:04

need to make sure that you're having all

15:06

of those service pages. Okay? That

15:09

influences strategy, that influences

15:11

Google and anything where you want to

15:13

rank.

15:13

>> Absolutely. And I just want to reiterate

15:15

the importance of this cuz we're seeing

15:16

the same thing in the legal industry,

15:18

which is where we do a lot of business.

15:20

And what I tell clients is they have to

15:22

brag about their business. And I've

15:24

never told clients that in the past,

15:26

right? Because these things weren't as

15:28

important before, but paying for these

15:31

certifications, in a lot of cases,

15:33

unfortunately, you have to pay for

15:34

awards, especially in the legal side,

15:36

you have to pay a couple thousand

15:38

dollars for maybe a super lawyers or

15:40

some of these other things where you

15:41

have to be in order to be considered,

15:43

you have to pay. BBB is the same thing.

15:45

You're paying five $600 in order to to

15:48

be listed, but the benefits are there.

15:52

And it's really important right on your

15:54

homepage, you know, you got to brag

15:56

about it. What have you done? One of the

15:58

some of the things we're suggesting our

16:00

clients do is not only mention how many

16:02

maybe total cases they've handled or how

16:04

many total customers they've served, but

16:06

how many have they served last year? So

16:08

that the LLMs have an idea of like, wow,

16:11

these guys have served 10,000 clients,

16:13

but last year they served 750.

16:16

Now, if nobody else in your industry is

16:18

referencing how many customers they're

16:20

serving a year, you're going to get a

16:22

little bit of extra, you know, bonus

16:24

points because you're giving the LLMs

16:26

that extra information. And at the end

16:28

of the day, it's a point system just

16:30

like Google. Like the more points you

16:31

can build up, the more authoritative you

16:33

are in these platforms. So, great point.

16:36

>> Yeah, and you know, anyone can use cloud

16:39

to create great content. Where is the

16:42

USP? Where's the edge? It's exactly in

16:45

what you just talked, right? I mean, I

16:47

can generate 100 service pages today,

16:49

but what's going to differentiate me

16:51

than other competitors is how many

16:52

certificates I've got, how many reviews

16:54

I've got, you know, stuff like that.

16:55

>> Yeah. And you know, the other thing is

16:57

business owners, you know, in the past,

17:00

we had very minimal onboarding kind of

17:03

questionnaires, things that clients had

17:05

to go through. We have to really had to

17:06

ramp that up over the last year because

17:08

we need all this information. And one of

17:10

the things I tell clients is they need

17:12

to take their time as they're going

17:14

through this because a lot of them don't

17:17

have the articulate USP statements,

17:21

unique positioning statements, right?

17:22

They're not exactly clear what makes

17:25

them different or special from their

17:27

competitors. But these are the types of

17:29

things that a business owner needs to

17:31

just get away for a little bit on a

17:32

Saturday, Sunday, really process this.

17:35

Why would a customer use you over your

17:38

number one competitor? And compare

17:40

yourself to the number one. Think about

17:42

that. Think deeply about that. Why would

17:44

they use you? Because there's going to

17:46

be some unique edge that you have that

17:48

others don't have. And the more you can

17:50

articulate that on your on your website,

17:52

the better your rankings are going to

17:53

be.

17:54

>> Exactly.

17:55

>> Awesome. Let's switch gears a little

17:56

bit. Let's talk about Google Business

17:59

Profiles. Obviously, extremely important

18:02

for any local business. What are some of

18:04

the the keys to success there?

18:06

>> Sure. And just to add a point here, no

18:08

matter how much we talk about AI and

18:10

stuff like that, GBP still bring 80% of

18:13

the leads for our clients.

18:15

>> Absolutely.

18:16

>> important. Extremely important. And

18:20

I mean, all of these AI are pulling

18:22

information from GBP as well. So, that

18:24

just makes it more important. Talking

18:25

about ranking factor, major ranking

18:29

factors for local pack or our GBP, it's

18:31

it's GBP signals.

18:33

For instance, categories. Starting with

18:35

name, that's very important. If you have

18:37

name, if you somehow get name in the DBA

18:40

doing business as and just add that

18:43

in your name. I'm not suggesting to just

18:45

overstuff keywords in the name though.

18:47

That might get you suspended. But if you

18:48

have got license and everything with

18:50

keyword in your name, that helps a lot.

18:53

That's the first thing. Second,

18:54

categories. Yeah, you want to add

18:55

something here?

18:56

>> Yeah, real quickly. Give the listeners a

18:58

couple examples. Because again, I think,

19:00

you know, maybe keyword stuffing is what

19:02

would come to mind. Certainly, that's

19:04

what I would think about if I didn't

19:06

know what you were referencing. But give

19:07

a couple examples where a business could

19:10

change their name, what they would

19:12

change it to, and just a little bit

19:13

about the results that would take place

19:15

there.

19:16

>> First thing, I don't really add any city

19:18

information in the name.

19:20

Reason being, I don't I mean, I don't

19:22

see people really searching for HVAC

19:25

company XYZ city. They I mean, there are

19:27

searches for that, but that's hardly 5

19:29

10 15%. Most of the searches are going

19:31

to be about HVAC company or HVAC company

19:34

near me, something like that. You get my

19:36

point, right? So, and Google just knows

19:38

your location anyway, so that proximity

19:40

thing, that that's not really helpful.

19:43

But, what I specifically mean here is,

19:45

let's say if you've got, again, I'm just

19:47

using HVAC because I I just work with

19:50

them every single day, right? If you

19:52

have got an HVAC company and currently

19:54

your name is

19:56

let's say

19:57

Bob, right? You can have your name

19:59

something like Bob, you know, heating,

20:01

ventilation, and air conditioning, or

20:03

Bob HVAC, or Bob AC repair, something

20:07

like that where you have your keyword

20:09

added in the name. And it gets more

20:12

important if other competitors are

20:15

actually using that.

20:16

You know, if no one is using that, it's

20:19

fine. You'll still get away with that.

20:20

You'll still rank really well without

20:22

actually using that. But, if all of

20:25

those other competitors are actually

20:26

using name in the keyword, sorry,

20:29

keyword in the name, you're going to

20:30

have really hard time ranking better

20:32

than them better than them even after

20:35

getting couple more reviews than them,

20:37

you know, you get my point, right? So,

20:39

that's when it gets super important. If

20:40

your competitors are having keywords in

20:42

the name, get that in your name as well.

20:45

Uh it takes 7 to 10 days if I'm not

20:47

wrong to get a DBA.

20:50

It's not that hard.

20:51

And if you're not just if you're not

20:53

really overstuffing a lot of stuff,

20:55

you're not really going to get

20:56

suspended. So, yeah, that's my first

20:58

point.

20:59

>> Yeah, love it. So, again, just to

21:01

clarify real quick so everybody can

21:02

follow along. If you go to Google right

21:05

now, you do a search for whatever your

21:07

main keyword is. If you see that your

21:09

competitors, and again, in many niches

21:12

these days, you're going to notice this.

21:14

If they're including their keywords,

21:16

their practice areas, their, you know,

21:19

services in the business name, it's

21:21

probably a good idea for you to do the

21:23

same. We're seeing this a lot in the

21:25

legal industry, very, very prevalent,

21:27

especially in mid to larger cities. So,

21:30

that's how you know if you need it. If

21:32

if you do a search in your city and

21:34

nobody it's all Smith and White, Jones

21:36

and, you know, this guy, probably don't

21:38

need to worry about it, but if it's

21:39

Jones injury lawyers, Smith injury

21:41

attorneys, Smith car accident lawyers,

21:43

and those are the three businesses,

21:45

that's where you have to absolutely

21:47

change your name in order to compete.

21:50

All right, Yash, what's number two in

21:51

the list?

21:51

>> Categories. Absolutely important.

21:55

Just use Plepper for that or GMB

21:57

profiler, all of these tools that I'm

21:58

mentioning, they're free. Just go to

22:00

these tools and check categories of

22:03

other ranking competitors. See how many

22:05

categories have they got,

22:07

what's their primary category, what's

22:08

their secondary categories, and I'll

22:10

just do exactly I'll take an average and

22:13

I'll just do exactly what my ranking

22:14

competitors are actually doing. That's

22:16

the second step.

22:17

>> Third, services, service area. So,

22:20

service area doesn't really affect that

22:22

much, but I still like to kind of do

22:23

that. Services, service areas,

22:25

descriptions, all of the information,

22:27

all of the on-page optimization within

22:29

GBP, including updates, including

22:32

products and everything like that. So, I

22:34

like to play with products. For

22:36

instance, if it's an HVAC, you have got

22:38

Trane, Mitsubishi, specific companies in

22:41

HVAC. I like to add all of those

22:43

companies, AC, furnace, anything like

22:45

that in product. You can do exactly the

22:46

same with any other industry, and that

22:48

works pretty damn well. That's something

22:50

that's pretty good. And with GBP signals

22:53

or GBP optimization, I mean, anything

22:56

where you can optimize within the GBP

22:58

dashboard. From name, categories,

23:00

services, descriptions, and you have got

23:04

social profiles, you have got service

23:05

descriptions, you have got products,

23:07

review replies, and stuff like that. My

23:09

second point is reviews. After name,

23:12

category,

23:14

reviews are the most important ranking

23:17

factors. Review quantity, and then also

23:20

the frequency of number of review I

23:22

mean, frequency of reviews you are

23:24

getting every single week or every

23:26

single month. So, if you have let's say

23:28

if you have got

23:29

500 reviews and your competitor is

23:31

having 1,000 reviews. But, if your

23:34

competitor hasn't got any review or just

23:36

one or two reviews in the last couple of

23:38

weeks, and you are getting five, six,

23:39

seven, or you know, something like that

23:42

reviews every single week, you're still

23:44

going to see that your ranking is

23:46

comparatively better than

23:48

your competitor. In most of the cases,

23:50

there might be some exception

23:52

due to other other factors, but in most

23:55

of the cases, you're going to get ranked

23:56

better. Reason being, the frequency of

23:59

amount frequency of reviews on your

24:01

profile is better than your competitors.

24:03

So,

24:04

third is reviews, the amount of reviews,

24:06

and the frequency of reviews.

24:08

Then you have got on-page signal.

24:10

Another one is on-page signal. If you

24:11

see, you know, you have got your website

24:13

section on the GMB.

24:15

Exactly that page that you mentioned on

24:17

there, it's super important to optimize

24:20

that and mirror that with your GMB. What

24:23

exactly do I mean that? In most of the

24:24

cases, it's going to be your home page,

24:27

but if you're a multi-location business,

24:29

that might be a location page. Any

24:31

service that you're including in your

24:33

GMB, it needs to be there on your

24:35

website.

24:37

Usually, service pages.

24:39

You have to make sure that the name,

24:40

address, phone number, map, everything

24:42

mirrors exactly the same on your on your

24:45

website with your GMB. Third, I'm

24:49

further talking about on-page

24:50

optimization of the website. I really

24:52

like to add keyword-rich anchor text,

24:54

and then internal link to the respective

24:56

service pages. For instance,

24:59

same HVAC, I've got, let's say, AC

25:01

replacement and repair page. I've got

25:03

furnaces, I've got IAQ and different

25:05

service pages. I'll make sure that the

25:07

internal linking to those respective

25:09

service pages are being done with

25:11

keyword-rich anchor text, exactly the

25:13

anchor text that I want to rank on.

25:16

And that I have seen that helping a lot

25:18

with GBP ranking as well. So, anything

25:20

that you do on your homepage or or the

25:23

webpage associated with your GBP, that

25:26

helps a lot. Meta title, meta

25:28

description, H1, anything like that. And

25:30

a quick hack on that,

25:33

I really

25:34

like to include near me, near you terms

25:36

in H2s. I've seen that helping. I've

25:39

seen that helping cross different

25:41

campaigns. I've tried that again and

25:43

again and every single time, I've seen

25:45

that helping in ranking of the GBP.

25:48

>> Love it. Let's talk just a little bit

25:50

about reviews because I don't think the

25:52

average business owner understands their

25:54

importance. A lot of business owners

25:56

understand on traditional SEO the

26:00

importance of link building, right? And

26:03

I like to I like to kind of compare

26:05

reviews with links in in the sense that

26:07

like your business name, your category,

26:11

your services, products, everything

26:12

you're putting in the GBP is like the

26:14

basic barrier to entry. That's how you

26:18

tell Google, "This is what your business

26:20

is about." Right? But saying this is

26:22

what your business is about doesn't get

26:24

you ranked. It just ensures that you get

26:26

categorized properly. It ensures that

26:28

you are categorized as an HVAC or as a

26:30

personal injury attorney or as whatever

26:32

kind of business you have. But you have

26:34

to recognize there's hundreds of

26:37

competitors that are doing the exact

26:39

same thing. So, you doing that alone is

26:42

not enough to rank. It's enough for you

26:45

to be categorized. But then, the reviews

26:48

come in and that's really a major

26:50

ranking factor that's going to determine

26:53

where you place in the map pack, right?

26:57

And so, I want to just stress, you know,

26:59

uh Yash talked about uh the consistency

27:02

component. So, what I see a lot of these

27:04

law firms doing is they haven't gotten

27:06

reviews in 5 10 years. Somebody tells

27:08

them, "Hey, go get some reviews." They

27:10

go back to all of their clients. They

27:12

get 200 reviews. And then uh they come

27:15

back to me maybe 2 years after that.

27:17

They're like, "Jared, we're not ranking

27:18

well." And I look at the reviews. They

27:20

haven't had a review in 2 years. This

27:22

has to be a consistent thing that you're

27:25

doing every month. And I would

27:27

recommend, listen, if the business owner

27:30

isn't going to own, you know, that

27:32

process, somebody in your company has to

27:35

own it. Somebody has to be responsible

27:37

every single week for getting reviews

27:39

from happy clients. I see a lot of

27:41

businesses incentivizing

27:44

their crewmen or their attorneys or

27:47

their doctors or whoever, you know, is

27:49

kind of on the front line account

27:51

managers to get reviews. Um you know,

27:54

check to see if that's legal in in your

27:56

area, but you have to do something in

27:58

order to prioritize this because this is

28:00

going to be the biggest difference,

28:02

realistically, and Yash, correct me if

28:04

I'm wrong, between your business

28:05

succeeding or not. And when I look at

28:09

the value of the business

28:11

and what you're generating, it's like

28:14

when somebody goes to buy your business,

28:16

a big thing they're buying are those

28:18

reviews and that review system. So, I

28:21

would look at the value of a good review

28:23

system as being worth millions of

28:25

dollars to a lot of different kinds of

28:27

businesses. So, this is very very

28:29

serious.

28:30

>> Yeah. I mean, Jared, you hit the nail on

28:31

the head. I was actually talking to a

28:33

broker last weekend. He actually

28:36

mentioned the exact same stuff that

28:38

if you want to

28:40

kind of credit your business at a

28:42

certain point of time, reputation

28:43

management is super important because

28:45

people want to buy reputable business.

28:47

They don't want to buy a shitty

28:48

business.

28:49

>> Right.

28:50

>> So that that's really important.

28:51

>> Yeah. What else? Any other kind of big

28:53

levers that a business owner needs to

28:55

pull to to get ranked there in the maps?

28:57

>> I mean, you have to do the basic

28:59

citations and stuff. I see people doing

29:02

500,000 different citations.

29:05

That doesn't even get indexed. I mean,

29:06

that's still fine if you want to just

29:08

click the check box, but there are

29:10

hardly 50 60 citation in every single

29:14

industry that moves the needle. You have

29:16

to find those in your industry. You have

29:18

to find which of these citations are

29:20

being

29:21

I mean, being called in AI or by Google

29:24

and everything. And then you have to

29:25

make sure that you are at that place. If

29:27

if you have to pay for that, go pay for

29:30

that because it's worth it.

29:31

>> [snorts]

29:31

>> Other than that, you have got social

29:33

signals as well. That's very important.

29:35

What I mean by social signals? Further

29:37

for real, as we are moving with AI,

29:40

I mean, I can't stress more on that.

29:42

You have to be omnipresent. You have to

29:45

be there on Facebook. You have to be

29:46

there on TikTok. You have to be there on

29:48

Instagram. You certainly don't have to

29:50

create

29:51

different content for each of that. You

29:53

can just have

29:54

one single reel that that's going on all

29:57

of these different platforms. You get my

29:59

point, right? And then you just have to

30:00

make sure that you are getting reviews

30:03

on other

30:04

platforms as well. If you want to focus

30:07

a lot on AI, make sure that you're

30:09

getting reviews on different platforms

30:11

and not just Google, you know? That's

30:13

something very important. And other than

30:14

that, even for GBP, I find links are

30:17

important. That's not the biggest factor

30:20

for GBP ranking, but yeah, that's a

30:22

significant factor. If you are having

30:24

links, if you are having mentions uh

30:27

from really good authoritative places

30:29

that I mean, I'm not just talking about

30:31

GBP or whatever that number is. I'm

30:34

talking about actual websites in your

30:36

industry. And if you're getting a link

30:37

from that, it does help.

30:39

>> Yeah. Ayasha, what if I came to you? I'm

30:41

an HVAC business in in a major city. I'm

30:43

talking, you know, New York City or Los

30:46

Angeles or Houston, like massive massive

30:49

city.

30:50

And let's say I'm doing all these

30:51

things. I'm ranked fourth or fifth. What

30:55

are going to be the little levers that

30:57

you're going to have to pull to get me

30:59

up into the top two for my business?

31:02

>> Depends. Are we talking maps? Are we

31:03

talking service? Are we talking ads?

31:06

>> Let's talk maps.

31:07

>> Okay, perfect.

31:08

The biggest thing I'll focus on is if I

31:10

can get keyword in the name. If you're

31:12

not having that, I'll make sure to check

31:14

all the categories if we have done that

31:16

correctly. I'll check with the sales

31:18

team. Do they have

31:21

review asking process in the sales

31:22

questions? That's super important.

31:25

If not, I'll make sure that we are

31:27

asking for reviews when we are with the

31:30

homeowner. Because I mean, I see people

31:32

all the time, you know, they have got an

31:34

automated email and text messaging

31:36

system for a review and stuff like that.

31:38

That's really fine, but the best chance

31:40

of you getting a positive reviews when

31:42

you are with a homeowner.

31:43

>> Absolutely.

31:44

>> So, when we start with a client, we

31:46

actually send them a business card that

31:47

has review QR in the in it, you know?

31:50

And it just makes everything really

31:52

easy. We We just ask the business owner

31:54

to hand out, you know, five 10 business

31:57

cards to each technician. And when the

32:00

technician goes to a home, at the very

32:03

end of the sales at the very end of the,

32:04

you know, of the process, he asks if

32:07

they're satisfied with with the work

32:09

that he put. You know, and if they are

32:11

just ask them to be reviewed. Just give

32:13

Just hand them a QR. Just hand them a

32:15

business card and ask them to scan the

32:17

QR code. It's easy, you know?

32:19

>> Super easy.

32:20

>> That's something that we usually do.

32:21

Other than that, I check with all the

32:24

directories if we are present on that,

32:26

you know? And fifth, super important,

32:29

the website itself. Is the website

32:31

optimized? Because

32:32

I mean, I've seen

32:34

average ranking going from 13 14 to 8,

32:38

9. And I'm talking about 2-mile radius.

32:40

That's 64 miles squared radius or

32:43

something like that, if I'm not wrong.

32:44

I've seen the average ranking go from 13

32:47

to 9 in 12 hours just by optimizing the

32:51

page that is actually associated with

32:53

the GBP. You know, in most of the cases,

32:56

it's going to be the home page.

32:57

>> Yeah, fantastic. That's great. That's

32:59

great. Yash, thank you so much for your

33:00

time today. A lot of great nuggets in

33:02

here. For somebody who wants to connect

33:04

with you, what's the best way for them

33:05

to do that? I've got a YouTube channel.

33:07

I'm not super active, to be honest. I'm

33:08

mostly active on Facebook. You can find

33:10

me on there. I've got a YouTube channel,

33:13

SEO with Yash. I do publish a bit, but

33:17

lately I've been just focusing on my

33:19

agency, uh that is Trade Offs

33:21

Consulting. So, yeah. Ha.

33:23

I'll be very honest, right? I'm just

33:24

active on Facebook. I'm trying to be

33:26

active on other social media, but right

33:29

now I'm just busy with the fulfillment

33:30

stuff, so. Yeah, I I totally get it. I

33:33

totally get it. We'll link up all of

33:34

those links in the show notes below.

33:36

Thank you so much again for listening.

33:38

Yash, thank you for your time. Really

33:40

appreciate it.

33:41

>> Thanks a lot. Thanks a lot for having

33:42

me, Jim.
