Ford Says Maverick Has Been Sold Out for 4 Years — and a New Truck Segment Is Coming
26 segments
I got to tell you, I think we're on the
eve of a like a a new silhouette. You
know, utilities kind of came on the
market 20 years ago, now they're the
biggest segment. You know, pickup trucks
have always been part of America, but
they're expensive. An F-150 or even a
Ranger, they're real expensive. We lead
the market, but boy have we found
success with Maverick. Maverick has been
sold out for literally 4 years since we
launched it. Now Slate, especially Ford,
is going to be expanding the small
affordable truck segment with electric
trucks. And these are really affordable
in terms of running costs compared to
even a Maverick and hybrid. So I think
what we're going to see is a
rejuvenation, almost the invention of a
new segment, kind of what we saw in the
70s with the mini truck era. When
customers will buy hybrid, they'll buy
electric, Ford will definitely be the
leader in both. I think it's going to be
great for the US consumer because
they're looking for affordability.
