Why you should move to Saigon, Vietnam
368 segments
[clears throat]
Good morning, Vietnam.
Only the boomers will get that joke. Did
you know that in Vietnam they don't call
it the Vietnam War? They call it the
American War. It makes sense, right?
Like why would they call it the Vietnam
War when Americans just came over here
and just started dropping bombs on them?
And it really says a lot about how the
narrative of history is so subjective
and history is written by the winners.
Well, in this case, I guess the United
States lost, but you know what I mean.
But dude, growing up in the United
States as a kid and watching like Rambo
too when John Rambo was over in Vietnam
with his machine gun just mowing down
Vietnamese people like
and they were just like
like that [ __ ] always annoyed me because
it's like why were the Asians always
these faceless insects and like John
Rambo was like the only human in the
movie? Like that [ __ ] was kind of
racist, bro. Um, not going to lie, it it
it made me it it made me feel less than.
And uh, I never really gave it much
thought until later in my life. And uh,
even the girl, right, the pretty love
interest to Rambo, like she was hot. So
I looked her up and I was like, of
course she was half white, half Chinese.
She wasn't even Vietnamese. Like why
can't they cast a Vietnamese person for
that role? So yeah, you know, white
people, you need to do better. No, just
kidding. Just kidding. I'm not a woke
person. Um, that was the '8s, so I
totally get it, man. Um, yeah, she was
hot. And, um, I would like to see more
Asian representation in the media. This
is my entrance. And, you know, that's
the the bathroom.
And um it's it's a bit messy, but try to
understand that all this clothing is
clean. You know, I have a washer and
dryer right there, so I use it all the
time. This is clutch if you're a nomad.
You know, you need to have find places
with washer and dryers. I always make
sure to have that. Um I recorded one of
my videos there cuz I'm lazy. This is
clutch. This clothes is clean, by the
way, the clothes on the floor. It's just
that I leave my clothes on the floor
because it's like organized chaos. You
know what I mean? for people who want to
call in on the Calendarly. I take video
calls there. Uh this is where the magic
happens. So yeah, that's the crib, bro.
Going to meet up with my buddy Chris.
We're going to hang out. He's visiting
for the weekend. See what happens.
Kind of a weird setup.
Yeah, it's kind of a weird setup. In
Vietnam, a lot of uh a lot of places are
inside. Like my place is in a nail shop
basically. But I'm going to take a
motorcycle, which is common here cuz
it's like it weaves through traffic
better. So I try to wear a mask for
that. It's like common cuz pollution and
stuff.
Sorry. Yeah.
So that was that was my uh driver there.
So that's like a electric vehicle
scooter. Um, Vietnam is making this big
push to convert all of their uh taxi
scooters and taxi cars to EVs
uh to basically reduce pollution cuz
Vietnamese cities like Hanoi and uh Ho
Chi Min City are like some of the most
polluted cities. So I think they were
they're trying to make that happen by
next year, which is which is amazing.
You know, some people think it's like a
little fruity to be sitting behind
another dude like that, but I don't
really mind, you know, as long as I'm
the big spoon, right?
Cool.
Water bus. I didn't notice this ever.
Those floors must be pretty cool to hang
out on. Should I record a video here,
guys?
Hey,
>> Chris.

>> Better than a roach, though, right?
Oh, look at that, bro.

The guy was walking back there.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Got to be more professional.

>> He's a savage.
>> That thing is a savage, bro.

[music]

Call us Anthony. I call her Anthony.
[music]
[music]
>> [music]
>> All right,
went to 7-Eleven to get some uh drunk
snacks.
Crucial
late in the morning. These 24/7
7-Elevens are so clutch, bro. It's also
just awesome how it's completely safe at
like 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. Even
in like a country like Vietnam, which
has a much lower GDP per capita than
most of the West,
it's way safer. So for sure like Vietnam
is
is definitely the front runner for my
home base because I like that like
you know such a peaceful safe society
and it's so affordable.
Check out where I'm staying. It looks
kind of sketch. Like I didn't say they
don't do graffiti but I got this gate
lock.
It's a nail bar.
And then,
you know, the gate closes behind me. And
then, I guess this is where people leave
their motorcycles.
[sighs] And there's my home.
Home sweet home.
