It's called the Stop Insider Trading
Act, and it's a kind of a Republican-led
effort on this issue. This would be a a
partial ban on lawmaker trading stocks.
Lawmakers would not be able to buy new
equities. They would they would only be
able to sell them after [music] after a
public disclosure of their plans to
sell. But, most controversially, it
would allow lawmakers to continue
holding [music] stocks. That's what
makes uh advocates on this issue un-
unhappy with this bill because it
essentially does not remove the conflict
of interest problem here. This bill is
not likely to progress any further than
than the vote. This bill is politically
toxic to Democrats, not just because of
this critique on the political the bill
itself, but because some unrelated
election um provisions were attached.

pushing. So, Democrats are not going to
vote for this. They have the ability to
block it in the Senate, and the Senate
may not even bring it up.
