One of my biggest trades was identifying

one of the biggest hail storms of the

past decade and investing in a roofing

company, okay? Like because I was

tracking the number of people who were

searching for the words roof repair. And

every single spring, come March, every

few days, I would go on Google Trends

and I would pull up a 5-year chart to

see if more people were searching for

roof repair this spring than the last

five springs. And there was this one

spring season where it was like triple

anything that had ever happened before

it. So, I was like, "Okay, this is going

to be huge for this company Beacon

Roofing," which was a publicly traded

world's biggest roofing tile company,

right? They distributed roofing tile to

roofers. And that's exactly what

happened and I put on a monstrously big

levered bet on Beacon Roofing and I made

an insane amount of money. And in the

last 17 years of my life, about 80 of

those stories. I made 80-ish what I call

high-conviction bets or trades on 80

different narratives over 17 years just

like that Beacon Roofing hail story. And

the vast majority of them have been

right.
