Lebanon UNIFIL Peackeepers Memorial | United Nations

Today,
we stand together in grief.
We gathered
to honor
three brave Indonesian peacekeepers.
Earlier today, there was a solemn
ceremony that took place at Beirut
International Airport to pay tribute to
our three fallen peacekeepers from
UNIFIL. All are from the Indonesian
Armed Forces.
They lost their lives here in Lebanon,
serving under the United Nations flag,
serving for peace.
As Force Commander, this is the hardest
moment.
We have not only lost peacekeepers,
we have lost brothers.
They will remain part of this mission,
part of all of us.
Their sacrifice remind us
of the reality of peacekeeping.
UNIFIL is a mission of hope,
but also a mission of risk.
And it is carried forward by people like
them, brave, committed, and selfless.
The three peacekeepers were posthumously
awarded the UNIFIL and Lebanese Armed
Forces medals in recognition of their
dedicated service to UNIFIL's mission in
South Lebanon. They contributed
meaningfully to preserving peace in
southern Lebanon,
and they stood as true advocates of the
enduring friendship and cooperation
between Indonesia and Lebanon.
