Don't Wast Your Life
413 segments
Your 20s
are the best years of your life. You're
young, you probably look pretty good,
[music] you're healthy, you know, you've
got all these things going on for you. I
want you to have some fun and I want you
to have adventures.
>> [music]
>> I don't want you to be 22 and go and get
a job at Goldman Sachs for the rest of
your life. So that you need fun, you
need adventure, you need some looseness.
You know, you want some experiences,
[music]
but it has to have some direction to it.
It can't just be I'm going to write
poetry, I'm going [music] to do rock and
roll, I'm going to go and learn
chemistry, I'm going to, you know, come,
you know, this that and the other.
There's no connection at all between all
of these things. [music] Just trying
everything for the sake of novelty,
that's a recipe for not being successful
because what you want to happen is
you're 30 years [music] old now. You've
let your 20s are behind you. It's
usually a time of reckoning [ __ ] I'm
not so young anymore. Okay, you know,
I'm getting older. [music] I've had my
fun, I've had adventure. I'm ready for
something serious and I've learned some
real skills.
>> You think when you're young that you
have all this time.
You have no time. There's there's
there's no time. I mean, [music] one of
the one of the quotes on the wall in the
gym in there is
um,
>> [music]
>> you know,
there is no tomorrow from from from
Rocky III.
>> Damn, Rock, come on.
WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU?
>> TOMORROW.
>> There is no tomorrow.
There is no tomorrow.
THERE IS NO TOMORROW.
>> You know, there is no tomorrow. [ __ ]
that [ __ ] Let's let's let's get all
this [ __ ] done today.
>> You're lazy.
You know exactly what to do, exactly
what to do cuz even me in my state
[music] of I can't read or write. I know
exactly what to do. But don't be mad.
When you're laying there in your bed and
you're in the [ __ ] [music] hospital
and you're 70, 80, 90 years old and
you're thinking
man, I like I didn't do something.
Cuz you did.
You didn't do it.
You didn't do [ __ ]
>> If you will change,
everything will change for you.
You don't have to change [music] what's
outside. All you got to change is what's
inside.
To have more, you simply have to become
more. And then he said, "Don't wish it
was easier, wish you were better."
[music]
Don't wish for less problems, wish for
more skills.
Start working on yourself, [music]
making these personal changes, and he
said it'll all change for you.
>> You have to envision something that is
more powerful than you.
Something has to get you out of bed.
And you have to create it. It has to be
false.
Cuz you're not it.
You're a fat piece of [ __ ] That's the
reality of it.
So, you have to create
a false reality
to live in that just to get
to work on yourself.
>> How can you not stop and be like, "Bro,
I'm the only one. I am the only one
paying the price.
>> [music]
>> I am the only one doing what's required.
Everybody else is sitting at home eating
Doritos, and I'm out here in the snow
getting better. How can you not be
excited about that?
>> Not no hacks. There's no hacks, bro.
It's you against you.
You against you.
And if you misunderstand [music]
that,
you got a real problem.
If you misunderstand what I'm saying
right now today,
the problem is you.
And you don't want to fix it.
>> Understand that it is you
who is responsible for being in the
position that you're in.
Not anybody else.
Can't be making excuses. It is you.
>> This isn't a hack.
This has [music] to be in you.
Something in you
has to wake up.
And usually the only person that can
wake it up is you.
You have to explore, examine the insides
of yourself.
And what do you really want out of life?
Your friend, and a lot of people out
here, just don't want it.
But guess what?
Not fun with your life.
So, I know why you go on Instagram. I
know why you cuz
you just have the time.
You have the time.
Because you don't want to put that time
into bettering oneself.
>> See, look, the clock [music] is ticking.
The clock never stops ticking. Time
don't wait for nobody. So, why you
sitting here wasting your day away
thinking that you deserve tomorrow
[music] when you playing with today?
That is
That's crazy.
Until you realize that you wasting your
life away and that you not going to be
able to get this time back
just setting yourself up for failure.
And I hope that you can live with that.
I can't though.
>> The clock is ticking.
Your story's going to be over one day.
There's going to come a day where the
last words of the final chapter are
going to be written and the book will
close. What do you want your story to
say? Is your story [music] going to
write that you left a positive impact on
this world? That you helped other
people? That you did your very best to
leave the world better than you found
it? Or is your story going to write that
[music] you sat around for 80 years and
did absolutely nothing? That you just
sat around living for short-term
pleasures and cheap dopamine
>> [music]
>> and tickled yourself for 80 years until
you died? What's your story going to
say? And a better question is if your
story ended today, what would it say?
Are you happy with what it would say? If
you're not, then I would do something
[music] about it. I would drop
everything and start trying to write
your story the way you want it to be
written.
>> There comes a point in life as a man, as
a woman, as a boy, as a girl that we
come to realization that nobody is
coming to save us. But yet, [music] we
still haven't taken any action towards
the life that we always dreamed about.
Now, let me [music] give you the secret.
If you will change, everything will
change for you. To have more, you simply
have to become more. Don't wish it was
easier, wish you were better. Don't wish
for less problems, wish for more skills.
[music] Learn to work harder on yourself
than you do on your job.
>> The biggest risk to your future isn't
your competition. It's the distractions
you insist on keeping in your life
rather than [music] doing the things you
know you should be doing but aren't.
People delay doing things they don't
like for longer than it takes to do
them.
>> No more gray decisions in your life.
It either serves the man or the woman
you want [music] to become, the business
you want, the father you want to be,
those, the wife you want to be, the mom
you want to be, the leader [music] you
want to be, the business you want to
have. Your actions either serve and take
you towards [music] that version of
yourself
or those actions take you away from
that. If you get rid of well, maybe kind
of, you know, surfing on my phone a
little bit or doing this little bit or
bingeing on Netflix a little bit or
hanging out with those [music] negative
people a little bit. No, no, no. You
want to go to the next level? You don't
know what it's [music] like to generate
the kind of money, impact, and purpose
that you know you can and want to? Then
there's no gray anymore.
>> You cannot change your life unless you
change something.
If you always do what you [music] always
did, you'll always get what you always
got. No matter what it is. Many times
you say to yourself, "I got to lose
weight. I got to lose weight. I'm too
fat."
And then, you know [music] what?
During the day you eat, you eat at
night, and the next day you get mad at
yourself. Well, what do you want?
What do you want? You got to change
something.
>> That's okay.
Nobody does. Go do something. Do the
best thing that you can think [music]
of. Put the best plan you have into
practice. It's not going to be perfect
and it will change along the way, but it
will change partly because you become
disciplined pursuing the path and as you
become disciplined, you become wiser,
and as you become wiser, you become able
to formulate better and better plans.
>> Whenever you try [music] to do something
out of the ordinary, people will line up
to tell you that you can't do it, why
you can't do it, that you lose your
time, you lose is money, that you will
in effect die in the desert. Even people
who should know better will [music] try
to discourage you. To achieve anything
greater worthwhile, you must train
yourself to rise [music] above these
people ignoring them and pressing on
towards your goal regardless.
>> Stop saying what [music] if and start
saying why not.
Some people are going to live with the
what if for the rest of their [music]
lives. When I get old and I'm I'm on my
deathbed, I don't want to look back
[music] to my 20s and say, "Man, what if
I would have took that chance? What if I
would have just started? What if I would
have took the [music] first step?"
Taking the first step got us exactly
where we are today.
You take [music] a chance to do some
[ __ ] that you love or some [ __ ] that you
saw in a dream, it could change your
life. But exactly where you are right
now is always going to be there. It's
never going to go anywhere. Your
hometown is going to be the same. People
are going to be doing the same [ __ ]
around you. But a chance for [music] you
to get out of where you're at, to step
out and take a chance on life, man, it
could be the best decision you ever made
in your life. But you can't sit down on
the what if and sit there on your ass
[music] and think, "Damn, that could be
me one day." Or what what what what
would it be like to be there?
>> Exactly.
>> Go do it.
>> Whenever I was in college and I was
feeling really stressed out and I was
overwhelmed at times and I didn't
[music] like what the situation was,
I would always say, "What would I tell
[music] my future son?"
Because if I can't tell him to get
through adversity [music] right now, if
I can't tell him to keep pushing
through, if I can't say if I don't live
that, if I don't live through that, how
am I going to ever give him genuine
advice one day to get [music] through it
on his own?
So you got to think, man. Like sometimes
you go through things and you don't know
the reason at first, but it's not for
right [music] now. It's to help someone
later, like your son or your daughter.
Sometimes you're living through the
toughest thing ever and you don't know
why it's happening to you.
But sometimes, guys, it's bigger than
[music] what you can even see right now.
Sometimes your son going to be looking
you in the eye and say, "Dad, [music]
how do I get through this?" And then
what are you going to tell him when you
quit before?
What are you going to tell him when you
took shortcuts?
That's the point, man. [music] There's
so much stuff that's bigger than you
right now that you're going through for
a bigger purpose than you can even
imagine.
>> Hey, guess what?
It's going to be the hardest thing you
ever did. It's going to take a long ass
time. It's probably going to take three
or four times as long as you think it's
going to take. [music]
Uh along the way you're going to lose
all your friends.
You're probably going to lose some
significant others, too,
>> [music]
>> along that way. Uh you're going to get
made fun of, you're going to get
bullied, you're going to get harassed,
you're going to get attacked on the
internet daily. All right? You're going
to [music] struggle. You're going to
make mistakes. You're going to owe
people money. You're going to your bank
account. There's going to be multiple
days where you [music] don't think that
you're going to make it. And and and
those days sometimes last for months.
There's going to be
Nobody's going to relate to you. No
one's going to understand why you're
[music] doing it. Everybody's going to
question it. You're going to have to
answer it every single time. It's going
to piss you off. And bro, this is the
life that you're choosing.
Like you're choosing. And then you can
And then so you can't be surprised that
it's hard. That's This is what you're
signing up for.
>> Never complain, never explain. And what
it means is don't complain about life.
Don't explain what you're doing or why
you're doing it. Just do it. By whining
and complaining, all you're doing is
making people think bad things about
you. Looking
You have a mindset [music] where
everything is is a kind of a potential
complaint. Stop whining and stop
explaining [music]
yourself and just do things in the
world. And let your actions speak for
themselves. [music]
>> If you want to be really great at
something, you kind of have to be out of
your mind. But you also have to have an
iron [music] will.
>> Yeah.
>> You don't want to work out every day.
>> Yeah.
>> There's going to be days you just want
to eat cake and sleep.
>> Yeah.
>> But [music] if you want to get past the
guy who eats cake and sleeps, you don't
eat cake and you don't sleep.
>> We are a collection of our choices.
That's what you are. Your habits create
who you are eventually.
And here's the kicker.
When you think that you
not doing the details and you think you
fooling the coach. Say, "Oh, coach, you
know I'm studying at night. I'm doing
what I'm supposed to do." HERE'S THE
PROBLEM.
HERE'S THE TRUE problem in life.
What we do in the dark [music] will come
to the light.
You will get exposed.
You will one day get exposed. You want
to get better?
You really want to get better?
It ain't on the coach. It ain't on the
position coach. It's the guys in the
group you compete against. You
They got nothing to do with the
opponent.
It's all on you. When you get up in the
morning you say, "You know what? I'll
compete against that guy tomorrow."
How you compete against you?
You want to be great? Do that.
