A Day in My Life at CMU (Code, Draw, Teach Anime)
147 segments
for like one minute and it starts
raining
anime in terms of
[Music]
do
[Music]
do
[Music]
so now i'm showing you the typical
pittsburgh weather where when you left
your house for like one minute and it
starts raining so i'm not gonna be able
to feel much of this on my own but
i need to get a school now
[Music]
me
[Music]
i'm gonna put a sentence
[Music]
do
[Music]
is
[Music]
[Music]
so right now i'm actually going to my
second class of the day which is figure
drawing class
and it's going to be a new model so i
might not even be able to film much
but it's an hour long during class i
think
i'm always pretty excited to see
uh to go to this class every day
[Music]
thank you
[Music]
[Music]
that figure streaming session was pretty
good so right now i'm just gonna go to
gym usually i go to gym right after this
session because i have a lot of time
before dinner
so let's go
[Music]
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
[Music]
so
[Music]
just in case you don't know i teach the
anime studio at cmu so right now i'm
just waiting for my co-instructor to
come over
and
wait for seven to actually start a
lecture
so i'm just going to play some anime
music now
[Music]
before we take 10 minutes um
for you guys who are here you guys i
wanted to show you
and we got final presentations that are
coming up eventually so i wanted to show
you just a couple to get me primed to
like what we're looking for
[Music]
into the animation which
drove a lot of the power emotional power
of shelter like as an animated music
video right
[Music]
welcome back for the second part now we
can talk about uh
anime in terms of cinematography
cinematography is like very easy to see
inanimate right uh think about what's
difference between likijo and the
amazing world of gumball
sure there's a lot of similarities but
can anyone tell me like what's the very
striking difference of the animation
anyone
yeah style is one of the things but a
lot of things we look at gumball a lot
of that is
quite flat doesn't it yeah it looks kind
of like cartoonish kind of uh
just
character slapped onto something whereas
in detail you see the characters kind of
2d and 3d mixed together in a same kind
of art style same world so that's what
makes it interesting okay yeah so that
was uh
you can see the storytelling is is quite
interesting it's not your traditional or
kind of kind of anime you would expect
that kind of linear
very one thing after another kind of
storytelling right this guy just want to
write banter honestly just want to write
that along this again afterwards
the reason that he wrote document
charges because he just wanted to
write a like novel where it's just
characters
yeah basically so it's so much like
katana
and
um
thanks for coming we hope you like this
lecture about art and narrative and all
that stuff stay safe everyone
and see you next week
[Music]
right
[Music]
do
[Music]
oh
[Music]
[Music]
so
[Music]
so right now it's about 9 30 i just got
back and i took a shower so what i'm
gonna do for the next two three hours is
i'm gonna do some homework and i'm gonna
do some drawing on my laptop and then
around midnight it's when i'm going to
sleep so i'll show you a little bit of
how i draw on my laptop at the end of
the day
[Music]
do
do
[Music]
so right now it's about midnight and i'm
actually getting a little tired so
that's all i'm gonna show today i'll see
you next time bye
[Music]
you
