Okay, let's talk about AI and what are we actually paying for?

0:04

Because we are at this really interesting inflection point, where there's,

0:07

8 million AI options and everyone wants you to sign up for something.

0:10

So I thought I would do a quick video sharing

0:12

with you, what I am paying for, what we are paying for as a

0:15

business when it comes to AI.

0:17

I don't know if this will be an exhaustive list.

0:18

I might forget something.

0:20

But I thought I would share what we're spending money on because, I'm

0:23

a small business owner and there's not, a great money tree outside, and

0:26

we have to be conscious of, budget

0:28

so in no particular order ChatGPT, number one.

0:31

I've been paying for ChatGPT since probably the beginning.

0:34

ChatGPT came around, I believe it was November 2022.

0:37

December of 2022, I was like, "Yes, take my money." I'm still paying for it.

0:41

I know a lot of folks have transitioned to Claude, and I

0:44

do use Claude for some things.

0:46

I don't pay for Claude.

0:47

I think Claude's great.

0:48

For right now, a lot of what I'm using AI for, I'm using a lot of ChatGPT

0:52

stuff as well, so we're paying for that.

0:54

I'm also paying for Google tools, so We have a professional Google account

0:58

because our website's hosted with Google.

1:00

Our email's hosted with Google, which means we are also paying for Gemini.

1:04

So between ChatGPT and Gemini, I am able to get done a lot

1:08

of what I want to do with AI.

1:11

Now, I realize with Claude there's a lot I probably could be doing.

1:15

But I'm gonna be completely transparent here, but I don't

1:19

necessarily want to do that right now.

1:22

And maybe I will regret saying that, and maybe that's costing me more time.

1:26

But I, right now, with my comfort level in terms of AI, I'm gonna be really honest,

1:32

I have some conflicting feelings about AI.

1:35

I think it's not going away anytime soon, but I think there's some ethical

1:39

concerns that a lot of us have about AI.

1:41

I am paying for ChatGPT and Gemini primarily to help optimize my content.

1:47

I put out a ton of content across multiple platforms, and both ChatGPT

1:51

and Gemini have helped me optimize my content, in terms of keywords,

1:55

titles, thumbnails, SEO, and, getting found in the search engines.

1:59

I've been putting out content for 14, 15 years.

2:02

We've been in business 14 years, And I've been putting out

2:04

content since even before that.

2:06

So I'm proud of a strong digital footprint.

2:09

Over the past few years, we've been using AI tools to optimize

2:12

some of that content, and also going forward what that looks like.

2:15

I'm curious what you guys will say about that in the comments below about Claude.

2:19

Again, no hate to that.

2:20

Same thing with NotebookLM.

2:22

NotebookLM is a great tool.

2:23

I do not use the paid version for that, though.

2:26

Although, I might have the access to the paid version, 'cause that's a Google

2:28

tool and we do pay for Google, which is included in Gemini, so I'm gonna look

2:31

into that after I record this video.

2:34

Okay Canva.

2:36

Not surprising.

2:37

I'm like a Canva power user.

2:38

I love Canva.

2:39

I've been using it forever, ever since it came out.

2:42

Some of the AI tools.

2:43

Okay, so I do pay for Canva I love the branding.

2:47

I love the brand kit that you can get with Canva.

2:49

I feel like that's a game changer right there.

2:51

If you're a Canva user and you're a paid Canva user, I

2:53

don't need to sell you on it.

2:54

But as far as AI, I love, Magic Edit, Magic Erase, Magic Layers, those

3:00

tools to help improve photos, to help improve video content, just for

3:04

like basic editing stuff, awesome.

3:06

I don't necessarily use Canva to create AI-generated images.

3:10

In fact, I don't really create any AI-generated images.

3:14

I, am primarily using AI as a time-saver.

3:16

So helping to write email newsletters, helping to write captions,

3:20

helping to optimize my content.

3:22

All of that being said, especially when it's anything written, like email

3:25

newsletters or social media captions, I am never, ever just copying and pasting.

3:31

I might copy and paste, but then I'm always rereading it.

3:34

I'm reading it out loud.

3:36

I'm like deleting half the emojis.

3:38

I'm deleting half the sentences.

3:40

Like, no matter how good you can train your AI, you still have to talk like

3:47

yourself, especially with your captions and especially with your email marketing.

3:50

So that is something that I just feel is so important.

3:54

I also pay for Descript.

3:55

Descript I love.

3:57

I've used Descript for a couple years now.

3:59

Now, I record and edit all my videos.

4:02

In the past we've had an amazing team that we worked with.

4:05

We've worked with some great contractors over the years to help with that.

4:07

As of right now, I am recording and editing all my own content, but I

4:11

use Descript for a lot of my video editing because I can upload my videos.

4:15

I'm not using Descript to create videos.

4:17

I did a video recently where I was like, "I do not think you

4:20

should be creating AI videos."

4:23

I don't wanna see the AI version of you.

4:24

I wanna see you.

4:25

So for Descript, the way I'm using it is I upload all my videos.

4:28

I love the AI tools that are baked into Descript, 'cause I can click a button

4:32

and it's gonna fix the sound, right?

4:34

Like right now, I'm not using a mic because I know I can

4:36

fix the sound in Descript.

4:37

It's gonna sound great.

4:38

I can extract the audio for a podcast.

4:41

I can get my entire video transcribed and not have to pay a transcription fee.

4:44

I can download subtitles for my YouTube.

4:47

I can take out the ums and the ahs and all the extra little words.

4:50

I can make it more concise.

4:51

I use the AI functionality in Descript as a huge time saver.

4:55

Even though I do have some ethical concerns with AI, what I go back to is

4:59

how can I use it in a way that feels good for me in terms of time management,

5:03

so I can still show up as my true self, but use it as a way to save time,

5:07

and Descript is a huge time saver.

5:10

Okay.

5:10

ChatGPT, Gemini Canva, Descript.

5:13

What other AI tools am I paying for?

5:15

Those are kind of the big ones.

5:16

I'm trying to think if there's anything else that I pay for AI related.

5:20

I do pay for CapCut, I don't use their AI tools quite, that much.

5:24

I really primarily just use CapCut as a video editor, so I don't know if

5:27

that counts, but I do pay for that.

5:30

And that's it for now.

5:32

If I think of anything else, I'll put it in the caption below, just wanted to share

5:35

this in the spirit of full transparency.

5:37

A lot of people out there are selling AI tools.

5:40

We use Kajabi, and Kajabi is our platform that hosts our Get Social Smart Academy.

5:44

It hosts our website.

5:45

It hosts our email marketing.

5:47

There are AI tools baked into Kajabi, which I also do not use as of right now.

5:52

I'm not saying I wouldn't use them, but I don't use them right

5:55

now, but we do pay for that.

5:56

So what are we paying for, that's one other thing we do pay for.

5:59

And Zoom, again, I'm not really using the AI functions in Zoom.

6:03

But we do pay for Zoom.

6:04

And actually, as I'm saying this, what I'm sure you've also realized, too, is

6:08

there's probably a lot of things that you pay for that have AI baked in.

6:11

Are you using the AI functionality or not?

6:13

I am curious if you wouldn't mind sharing what are tools that you're paying for, AI

6:18

tools that you find are, totally worth it?

6:21

Let me know in the comments below.

6:23

Let me know if I should upgrade to a paid version of Claude.

6:26

I'm sure all of my Claude fans are gonna be like, "Oh my gosh, how

6:29

are you not paying for it yet?" So let me know in the comments below.

6:33

And this whole challenge of, showing up as yourself and then AI what's that

6:38

inflection point, I have to say, these are conversations we're having all day

6:41

long in the Get Social Smart Academy.

6:43

If you are like me and you are looking if you are working through, what your

6:48

content strategy looks like and how does AI fit into that, we would love

6:52

to have you part of our academy family.

6:54

It's so interesting with AI because yes, you can go into any AI tool and get a list

6:58

of, content ideas and scripts and all this stuff, but as one of our longtime members

7:04

recently said, he's like, "But when you do that, you need the discernment.

7:08

You need the discernment of, like, what is actually a good idea?

7:11

Like, does that actually sound like you?

7:13

Is that something you would actually say?" And if you don't have a trusted

7:17

resource, a trusted coach, a trusted consultant, a trusted voice to help

7:21

you with that, it just becomes really obvious when someone doesn't have that.

7:25

It's like your clients who are just going to ChatGPT for real estate information

7:30

and they have no discernment about, like, what's good or bad or real or not real.

7:34

Not saying that to, like, pat myself on the back, but whether or not you choose

7:38

to work with someone like me, we've been working with agents and brokers

7:40

we've been in business for 14 years.

7:42

We serve agents and brokers through our Get Social Smart Academy, through

7:46

webinars, through keynote speaking.

7:48

It's something I'm super passionate about, and I know I'm not everyone's cup of tea.

7:52

If you're looking for someone to just help with that discernment a little

7:56

bit and you like my vibe, you'd love to check out what we're doing.

7:59

I'll put all the links below.

8:00

What are you paying for?

8:01

Let me know in the comments below.

8:02

Is there anything that you think I'm missing?

8:04

If I finish this video and go, "Oh my gosh, I forgot to mention

8:07

X, Y, Z," I'll link it below.

8:09

I hope you're having a great day.

8:10

Bye for now.

Interactive Summary
