PTC Rallies on Deal; Qualcomm Up on Chip Patent Licensing | Stock Movers
54 segments
Deal. News today electrical equipment maker
Schneider Electric making a big bet on artificial intelligence.
Shocked. I'm shocked.
Uh, they're buying industrial software from PTC for a $22.6 billion.
I was going to add engineering software for industries including auto,
aerospace, medical technology. Uh, Schneider says its products, such as
electrical panels and circuit breakers, are in 40% of American homes.
I got a check that when I get home, the French conglomerate, uh, makes a suite
of electrical products there to acquire PTC, which is based in Boston.
All cash deal. And this just adds the buying spree
among industrial companies expanding in areas booming due to AI and related data
center infrastructure. Uh, you'll recall back in July,
Schneider had another deal. They bought, uh, bought cognizant for
$3.1 billion to try to expand its industrial data and AI software.
These are what we call. Yeah.
Um, Schneider, uh, CEO Olivier Blum said PTC is going to create the industry's
most complete software, and does Wall Street think they're paying too much
because the stock is down like 10%? Well, uh, look at PTC stock.
Um, that's up what was over 20%? That's what I mean.
This is going to close by the third quarter of 2020.
So there won't be any synergies next. Uh, Qualcomm agreeing to license patents
that underpin Huawei's logic folding. That's their chip making technique.
Uh, this is a win for the Chinese company.
Uh, in the push to advance in overseas, a, uh, markets multi-year deal.
Part of a cross, uh, license agreement between the two chip makers spanning
technologies related to 5G devices and, yes, AI services.
This agreement with Qualcomm helps validate Huawei's chip making
capabilities. Uh, what?
We unveil the logic folding approach. Just a few months ago, one of a handful
of companies, uh, seen as key to China's ambitions to lead an AI and reduce
reliance on foreign technology, including the in video accelerator
Robert Shiffman published an hour ago. That was Bloomberg Intelligence.
And what's great about it is he goes up to 2028 and even nice 2029.
And like we heard from Jack mainly everybody like Qualcomm or whatever.
Mhm. The pros have like a three and four year
vision of this where the rest of us are trying to get to the next iPhone upgrade
China. You're going to iPhone upgrade uh one of
these days maybe. But you know, the Michael Douglas phone
has served me well. It's like I am loyal to it.
It's, um. One more.
Taiwan Semiconductor on the move. Elon Musk confirming talks with a chip
maker on a possible collaboration on this, uh, massive, what do you call it?
The Taro fab factory project. Uh, the news could be a potential
competition for Intel, uh, which in April became the first to offer support
for, uh, Musk's. So he's not going to compete with a U.S.
company here. He's going to Taiwan Semiconductor.
That's interesting to see. This is a possibility.
All right, uh, Intel says he uses it as leverage.
I didn't know there's 223% gain for Intel since the beginning of this year.
Oh, it's been on. I don't own any of them.
TSMC 55%. Okay.
So you kind of do. The U.S.
government does. So.
Triple leverage on cash is very comforting, right?
