Chelsea football club. We have assembled

a rather large squad, but just recently

that squad has elevated a touch, helping

me now dissect exactly what is going on

in this Chelsea squad and who we should

keep or sell. It's a wonderful Matise.

has been assembled because we now need

to look at it through the lens of

expectation. But I think now with the

signings that we're making, with the

manager that we've brought in, with the

fact that the manager has been called a

manager and not a head coach,

>> I think that the expectations now are

high. They should be because we got one

game a week. I think nobody apart from

Tottenham is in a better position to

>> kind of attack the Premier League with

everything they have. We don't have

European football. We saw how that

benefited Manchester United last season.

Of course, we want to make sure we go

further in the cups.

>> We got to get some sort of trophy out of

this season, whether it's domestic cup.

I'd love a domestic cup double

>> and Premier League, that top four, top

five shouldn't even be a conversation.

>> I completely agree again. So, with that

in mind, we need we need now to assemble

a squad

>> that is capable and players that are no

longer capable. We need to say Addios.

controversial beginning.

>> Robert Sanchez. Should Robert Sanchez be

a Chelsea player at the start of the new

season?

I think he should be, but I'd have him

on the bench and I would have brought in

a new goalkeeper, whether that be

Trafford or Costa from Porto. That's how

I would have it.

>> He was so good in the World Cup.

>> Yeah. Yeah. That's how good.

>> Do Do you think I think I agree with

you?

>> Well, I do definitely agree with you,

but do you think that Robert Sanchez,

Robert Sanchez's advisers, his own

personal belief, do you think that he

would think that he's too good to be

considered a sub? Um, I'm not sure

because he was a bench player at

Brighton at the end, you know, at the

end.

>> He was basically third choice. I think I

don't know how how he'd look at it or

feel about it, but

>> I also wouldn't care.

>> I would just be like, listen, Kachini

was back up one day and he was

brilliant. So, if he can be backup, you

can be backup. We've had Bevic as

backup. We've had some really solid

Premier League, you know, worldrenowned

goalkeepers as backup. I think if you're

trying to challenge on multiple fronts,

you give the backup goalkeeper the cup

games. We've seen it with Trafford.

We've seen it with Keer for Arsenal. um

um Keller for Liverpool and and and the

better goalkeeper goes and starts in the

Premier League and you just have to he

just have to stomach that and if he

can't handle it then the next summer we

can have a conversation. That's how I'd

see it.

to sign a goalkeeper

>> a serious goalkeeper if we want to be if

we want to be going above and beyond and

actually say you know what we got one

game a week. We saw what character did

at Man United finished third. Let's

actually try and even go for the league.

goalkeeper?

>> Do you know what the problem is? I'm

feeling quite optimistic for the first

time, certainly under this ownership,

maybe before I realized what they were.

Maybe at the very beginning I thought

they were all right,

>> but certainly since I realized what they

were, this is the first time I felt a

bit of optimism. This is the first time

I feel like they've reworked their

model, maybe had a look in the mirror,

maybe had some self introspection and

decided our model wasn't working. We're

going to do things differently. However,

Robert Sanchez is your number one.

That's the problem. like whatever

whatever is the dream and and this is a

beautiful stage of the season, isn't it?

This very particular moment

everyone can dream. You got QPR fans

thinking they're going to get promoted

like everyone is allowed to have these

crazy dreams. [laughter] So this is this

is the part of the season where

>> anything is possible. Anything can

become a reality.

>> We actually can't. Like we have to put

the brakes on our dreams because Robert

Sanchez

is going to play out from the back, how

many times have we seen Sanchez make the

wrong decision with the short passing?

He gives it to an opposition player. He

underh hits it. He over hits it.

>> Plays a man into into trouble. Plays his

>> And that's why Mesa kind of stopped

allowing him to do that and said, "You

know what? I'm going to give you the

option to have your own variety. You

want to go long, go long. Make your own

decisions. But if Javonzo wants to play

short passing out the back, which we'll

see in the preseason games, we

definitely need a new goalkeeper." I'm

seeing Trafford going to leads. He's way

too good for that.

>> Yeah. And it's a great signing for

Leeds. Brilliant. He is he is way too

good for that. Yeah. It doesn't that

doesn't make sense.

>> No, it doesn't.

I've been arguing he should be England's

goal. Yeah. No. No. It's crazy. It's

the moment. Just on trial. But yeah,

maybe just sell or loan. I don't really

>> See, preferably for me, I would loan

him. I want him to play week in week

out. Everybody's talking about him,

raving about him, saying he's, you know,

the next cotto, etc. They obviously got

Lemons, who's who came on um for Belgium

in the World Cup as well when Cottoars

came off.

>> I would love for him to just continue

developing, playing week in week out. If

we had European football, I could

understand. See, if we had Conference

League or Europa League, Penders plays

all those games plus the cup games. I'm

like, wow, that's like 30 games, dude.

You're going to get a good amount of

games. You're going to develop. But when

you've got one game a week, you're not

going to rotate your goalkeepers. And do

I want to throw in a 21-y old even

though that is a similar age of Cotto?

He doesn't have Terry. He doesn't have

Vanovic. He doesn't have he doesn't have

aspir.

>> Yeah, you could break him. And I don't

want to with with the standards

expectations that me and you want to put

on this team with what we feel like we

could potentially do if we keep doing

what we we're doing in the market. I

don't want to then top that off with

appenders and put on

it's so obviously alone because

>> you get you're right. We don't have

enough football to rotate to give him

the game time that he would need. We

can't we can't offer him the cup games.

Like we're going to play what? Four cup

games before Christmas. Like there's no

there's no no football, right?

>> So he needs he needs a season playing.

could he could be the answer to a

long-term problem.

>> Be brilliant if he went on loan to like

somewhere in the Premier League and we

just got to see him up close like how

good can he be on the ball collecting

crosses, dealing with the physicality,

for a year.

transfer. He played Premier League

football and I thought he's not going to

be a starter. He'll be like fourth

choice, but it will come in and he'll

just when called upon be reliable, just

kind of just do a job. He turned into

Tao Benim.

Yeah. Well, it was terrible. He's a bad

He's a bad center half at our level.

for me? Actually, it was one of the

first times where I got completely

duped.

they phrase things. Clever the way that

they they talk about things. I got

completely duped that he was actually a

good signing.

>> You know, like they that Gary Cahill arc

from Bolton. Yeah. Yeah. They come and

and I think at one point obviously

Chaloba went to it was like Chalaba's

he's gonna be better than Chalaba and

all that. And I was I've always loved

Trevor Chaliba, but I was like, "This

doesn't sound right to me, [laughter]

>> but I'm gonna give them the benefit of

the doubt." Like Chalaba is a player. I

voted Chalib player of the year a couple

of years ago cuz I like him.

I don't think he was play.

>> But when they kind of got rid of him and

brought in to Rabio, there was these

there was press releases suggesting that

it was Chelsea moving forward. It was

the right decision, an experience

coming.

>> Yeah. And I was like, "Okay, I'm going

to give him the benefit of the doubt." I

was like, "No, I was right. He is just

not just not he's a he's a very good

footballer, but it's QPR."

>> Yeah. It's it is it is that it's Fulham.

It's Brenford. It's very lowlevel

Premier League sides.

>> Yeah.

>> Or Championship sides with optimism.

>> Yeah.

>> Championship sides who want to come out

like you know if West Hammer to come to

bounce back up could be a good signing

for

>> but not a player whatsoever.

>> He's not quick enough in that high line.

He was exposed constantly. I remember so

many moments last season where the ball

goes over the top. We don't judge the

bounce right. He gets isolated one v one

and then it's either a red card or it's

a penalty or it's a the one v one the

goal goes in like the physicality

surpris didn't have that power

>> like do you know I didn't I didn't rate

Axel Dazzi

>> but Axel Dazzi would bully his way.

Yeah. Power and determination.

>> Abaya didn't really have that same

fragile.

>> Fragile.

>> Yeah. not a Chelsea player. Toss Adabay

is done. Please god we never see Benois

Badile in a Chelsea. He's got to be

sold.

>> Oh mate, he's just too injuryprone as

well. Every time he comes back, he might

have a couple of good games and you

think, "Oh, there is something there."

And I remember when he had his first

stint under Potter those first six

months, he was actually a good player.

Then he gets injured and then ever since

then, he just keeps getting injured and

and it's ironically when the transfer

windows open, he's injured. When we're

actually trying to negotiate for his

exit, he's never fit so he can't pass

the medical to leave. He just can't stay

available. I wouldn't be surprised if he

did go to like a team in Italy or he

went back to France. He was really

[laughter] good player by the way, but I

just can't be asked where they're going

to stay.

>> I I would extend that same courtesy to

um I would extend it to Adario. If

Adroio ended up like do you remember

when do you remember when Chris Smalling

went over to to Roma and ended up

becoming one of the better better center

halves? People were talking about

getting back in the England side, but I

was in Brazil when he was playing for

England and he was not an England

player, right? Then he goes over there

and he has a decent stint.

>> is a good player.

>> Bario is a good player. They're just not

good enough to play in this in this

physical league for a team who, let's

face it, and I've kind of mentioned this

is the point of the season where we can

dream.

>> Yeah. And it can't we cannot have a

situation where it's

>> Laqua and Adabio because it's going to

it's going to

>> that honestly that makes me sick just

even saying. And you know what? We've

got so many center backs, we actually

have to sell them anyway. Even if we

like them, we probably have to have to

be cut thrown. And these this isn't an

example of it. This is absolutely um

moving on. Levi Cowwell.

>> Easy keep. He was massively missed last

season. I remember the last few games of

the Morrisa season where we made top

four. He became even more vital. Massive

goal at Forest at the City ground for

the winner to to make top four. Um

>> he would have played for England,

wouldn't he?

>> He would have played for England.

Brilliant passer. Breaks the lines. bit

of leadership he was showing as well in

the club world cup and he's homegrown

he's from Cobb as well big talent I

remember he was trying to wrestle to

keep him Brighton wanted him as well

Liverpool at one point Liverpool were

really really I was worried I thought it

was actually going to let him go

>> well also I just felt like I felt like

at Chelsea everything was for sale and

Liverpool at the time

>> I mean Liverpool still probably but

Liverpool at the time really did feel

like an exciting project maybe slightly

less at the moment but

>> but yeah we I was very worried about

that we kept him Yeah.

>> So yeah, Leo was a starter, isn't he?

>> Yeah, absolutely. Easy.

>> Um Aaron Anel,

>> he's going to have to go out on loan. Um

came in from Bocker Juniors, was

injured, goes out on loan, injured at

Dortmund quite a bit as well. At the end

of the day, this is another one of those

kind of profit players potentially that

we're looking at to try and make a quick

buck on. And he's been injured so often

that I've not even been able to judge

him or even talk too much about him.

I don't know if you noticed, but what I

did here, I kind of went,

>> yeah, like you know, usually I'll go

good on the ball. He's meant to be

brilliant on the ball. Do you remember

when John Stones was coming through at

Everton and Jose Marino was barking at

the ball to get him? He's like taking

all these touches, driving out of

defense, going past players, take

Argentine Ensamino. But again, he's been

injured so often, even at Dortmund stop

and start, he just has to go back on

loan.

was all right last year, wasn't he? Like

it wasn't a good year, but one of, you

moments to to praise.

>> I feel like Jerro Hat is another one.

There were moments to praise.

>> Absolutely. I think 2026 he was better

than Cookar which is a big feat because

Kar went wrong.

>> Yeah, he went wrong and and Karee was

one of our better players over the last

couple years. I think under Masco he

wasn't really getting much game time.

There was a lot of complaints about lack

of rotation, him Santos not really

seeing the pitch too much. Um but then

you know later on 2026 he starts to play

and I think he started to find his feet

and to do that in a very dysfunctional

disorganized defense which didn't have

Cowell in it is really impressive cuz we

were awful defensively. So do you think

for the opening day the Monday night

>> Fulham?

>> Yeah.

>> Is Jerrell Hat in your team day one?

>> Not as a starter. No. If it's my dream

11, I want someone

them up. If I'm going for the league,

>> I want Hat on the bench and I want him

learning from the elite level back three

that I've put together that is going for

the

>> league. He has he has a season. Yeah. He

because he he's in good form.

couple of others were listed. He said if

they don't make England level I would

have failed

>> He was part unfortunately he was part of

the defense that did make mistakes last

season. He was also at fault for quite a

few moments

not even fair to him. He should have

stayed at Strazborg along with Liam

Rsin. Both of them were doing very well

for themselves at Strazorgborg,

developing in their own time. And then

big old Blueco came in and snatched them

both and said, "Hey, we're gonna fast

track you to the highest level in a

season where Chelsea are trying to make

top four. They got Arsenal in the

semi-finals of the Carabal Cup and they

got FA Cup and they got PSG. Come on. He

should never have been the guy that

comes in mid-season to deal with Scaria

and that mate, give me what you doing.

It's not making sense." So I I would

just loan him cuz I don't think we've if

if the if the model is sell is is profit

margins, we've not even tapped into his

potential profit margin cuz we've not

given him a chance. So give him a loan

and see what he does.

This is one of those players where if

you are financially restricted because

of the front of shirt, revenue, stadium,

Champions League,

>> I've never rated him. Even when he was

playing well, I didn't rate I liked him

under PCH, but that was our worst

defensive season since the early '90s

>> and he was also part of that. Yeah.

>> You know what I'm saying? So, it's like

even when you were great, you were still

part of our worst defense since the

early '90s.

>> It's so hard those arguments, is it? So,

when people try and tell me Jared Bowens

should be an England team like just went

down [laughter] like down even if you're

right, just went down.

>> The thing the thing is with Gusto is

that he doesn't he he's he's a really

good cog in a wheel. Like if you put him

in like midfield and he has a great

performance against Liverpool or you you

overlap him against PSG in the Club

World Cup final and he gives you these

these lung busting runs, but he can't

defend the back post. He's he's fragile.

He's weak. He's not great at crossing.

He's not great at crossing. And

sometimes even his first touch and his

passing is a bit as well. Like I I've

never rated him, mate. A bit headless, a

bit wild, a bit

>> He's too up and down. Like he's not you

don't know what you're getting from him.

>> I don't know why he's so highly rated.

>> He's French and he's young.

>> But I I don't know. Like I feel like I

don't know like why the man like Enzo

Moresco wants him, doesn't he?

believe that though because there's no

way City can be thinking he's the

bring him in. I don't know how he passed

the medical. 80 million pounds. One of

the highest paid players at the club

He's he's up there. And Lukaku

>> he doesn't play as well.

>> When he does play, he's not good.

>> He's one of those players if you want to

change the culture of the club and you

want to improve it and and get serious

like a Johnstone you move on for finana.

>> If he can stay fit,

there. I don't think I know people I

don't think people will pay that because

Like he should not be sitting near the

top of our wage player though, he's the

type of player that I think would

They're doing very well for

>> Sit live in London. The the the silver

lining is I think he was signed. He's

one of our first signings. He was he

came in with a Bameyian cooker.

>> Yeah. He was part of that crew when we

Balac?

>> He was getting called. Um I think he

must have only signed a 5year deal. We

weren't doing the seven, eight, nine

year deals then. So that coming to an

end coming to an end soon anyway. So

hopefully

have very little to say right. I love I

love him. I think he could play a lot.

He's got potential. I think I don't know

if I said right played against

Liverpool. He's brilliant.

people judge him as like he makes

mistakes, but he's meant to. He's like

>> And when you don't have a stable

defender next to you, that's that's good
