In this video, I'll demonstrate how to

0:03

install Grokbot on your computer.

0:07

In my case, I'm using a MacBook. The

0:09

same process applies if you're using a

0:12

Windows machine.

0:14

So, to download and install Grokbot, you

0:16

go to x.ai/bot.

0:21

Click on download for Mac OS.

0:25

And if you're using Windows, it'll be

0:28

download for Windows.

0:30

Once downloaded, click on the downloads

0:33

and then click to open it up, the

0:35

download.

0:38

Next, drag it to applications.

0:42

You may be prompted to enter the

0:44

password.

0:46

And once dragged to applications and

0:49

installed,

0:50

go back to the list of apps.

0:54

And one of the options is Grokbot.

0:58

Click on Grokbot.

1:00

And then click on open.

1:05

Next, click on sign in.

1:08

If you don't have an account, you can

1:10

click here on sign up and create a free

1:12

account.

1:14

One thing to note when creating a new

1:16

account, it will prompt you for a credit

1:18

card information.

1:20

And it will not charge you unless you

1:23

approve any of the purchases.

1:26

In my case, I already have an account

1:28

created and I've gone through those

1:30

steps and I'm still using the free

1:32

version of it.

1:34

So, I'll click here continue with email

1:37

and enter your password.

1:41

Under the share data, press continue.

1:44

Then click on sign in.

1:48

And at this point, we are logged in to

1:50

Grokbot. The way this works is that it's

1:54

very similar to the messenger app. You

1:57

have all the bots that are running

1:59

different processes behind the scenes

2:02

here on the left-hand side.

2:04

You can create a new bot from here on

2:07

the left-hand panel. You can click on

2:09

the

2:09

new bot or channel on the top left.

2:13

Then further down here we have the

2:15

plugins. These are all different options

2:18

and integrations with different

2:20

platforms such as Gmail, Google Drive,

2:23

Google Calendar,

2:25

and so on. You're authorizing access to

2:29

one of those applications that you work

2:32

with. And depending on what you are

2:34

asking it to do,

2:35

run those processes in the background.

2:40

Further down here we have the account

2:42

settings, so you can click under the

2:45

Grok Bot account and then click on

2:47

settings.

2:50

And you can change the theme, you can

2:51

set the microphone, you can set time

2:53

zones, and the various rules and

2:56

guardrails that you want to set up for

3:00

your Grok Bot.

3:02

You can set it that every time to prompt

3:04

you, or you can authorize always access

3:08

to certain things. Under updates, this

3:10

is where you can check for updates and

3:13

also what to run automatically. And then

3:17

this is where you can reset

3:19

all the options for your Grok Bot.

3:23

Typically, when you create your account

3:26

with Cursor, most likely going to ask

3:28

you a series of questions as to what you

3:31

use, what platforms you use.

3:33

In my case, I skipped that, so now we're

3:36

going to create a new bot from the left.

3:38

For this particular bot, we need to give

3:41

it a set of directions. It says, "What

3:46

do you want me around for?"

3:49

And you can pick the option that you're

3:51

looking to perform. It can be for

3:54

reminders, research, for drafting. It

3:57

can be for code or planning or shipping.

3:59

It can be for explaining things or

4:02

something specific. You want to be

4:05

specific and give it as many details as

4:07

you want. You can also use the

4:09

transcribe option and just describe all

4:13

that you'd want to do for you and then

4:17

it will suggest what bots to launch.

4:21

Typically, it's best to select the CEO

4:24

option because it will collaborate

4:26

behind the scenes with other bots.

4:30

So, now that I I gave you the prompt,

4:34

it's asking us

4:36

which option do we want to enable first.

4:39

So, you have operations such as

4:41

checklists, follow-ups, weekly digest,

4:43

the inbox. It will check your email. It

4:45

will draft replies and it and so on. It

4:48

can deal with customer leads, content

4:52

create new content, or take meeting

4:55

notes.

4:56

So, in this case, I'll just simply say

4:59

ops.

5:01

And now it's creating a new bot for the

5:04

operations.

5:07

Here you can add additional details for

5:10

operations.

5:12

And notice it's suggesting different

5:14

tasks to run on its own.

5:19

We can specify then again other options

5:22

related where to get the data from and

5:24

this is up to you.

5:27

Now here, we it's prompting us to create

5:29

another bot.

5:32

And this case, we'll create an inbox. It

5:35

will check your email.

5:38

It will prompt to connect to access the

5:40

email platform.

5:43

One thing to keep in mind is that each

5:45

one of these

5:46

is actually running a separate virtual

5:50

machine on the XAI platform.

5:53

So, if we go here to the new bot on the

5:56

top

5:57

and click on the computer icon on the

5:59

top right, this will display and open

6:03

that bot's virtual machine.

6:05

And now this, in this virtual machine,

6:07

there is Chrome and there is command

6:09

line and so on, so you could actually

6:11

run different processes

6:14

uh on that virtual machine and basically

6:16

train it on what to do. So, it will

6:18

learn by whatever you're doing or

6:21

searching on that particular virtual

6:23

machine, it's going to learn to perform

6:25

those tasks on its own. And notice there

6:28

is a teach a task option here on the top

6:32

right.

6:34

And again, the same thing for ops, you

6:37

can click on the computer, it's going to

6:38

start the desktop.

6:40

Also, these processes are going to run

6:43

on the background, so even if you close

6:45

your computer, the system, those bots

6:47

are going to be performing the tasks

6:50

that you assign behind the scenes.

6:54

So, now to go back to the Grok bot, we

6:57

open the Grok bot app and then

7:01

it's depending on what you prompted the

7:03

system to perform, it's going to

7:05

generate these reports automatically,

7:08

it's going to put email drafts together

7:13

and you can also create routines and so

7:16

on, but basically think of it just like

7:18

a messaging app where you have different

7:21

messages in this case that these bots

7:24

are performing on different sets of

7:26

actions behind the scenes.

7:28

Now, if you set the main bot as a CEO of

7:31

this platform, so if you right click

7:33

here and you choose edit profile, this

7:36

is where you can

7:38

describe it and give it specific

7:40

instructions so that this bot

7:43

collaborates with all the other bots to

7:45

run processes behind the scenes. So

7:48

again, this is very basic and the

7:51

purpose of it was get it installed in

7:54

your machine. My suggestion would for

7:56

the next steps would be to look online

7:59

how to configure specific bots to use it

8:03

for improving productivity.

8:06

Hopefully you found this helpful. I

8:08

suggest that you keep an eye on your

8:10

videos from this channel as I'll be

8:12

developing other ones as we move forward

8:16

with creating and utilizing bots from X

8:20

AI or other platforms as well.

Interactive Summary

This video provides a comprehensive guide on installing and setting up Grokbot on Mac and Windows systems. It covers the initial download and account creation, explains how to interface with various bot modules (like operations or email management), and details how the platform runs tasks in virtual machines on the XAI server. The guide also highlights advanced features such as configuring a 'CEO' bot to coordinate tasks, setting up integrations, and managing automated background processes.
