Okay, so we just got a ton of new leaks

on the upcoming OLED iPad Mini. And

honestly, this may just be the biggest

Mini upgrade that Apple has ever done,

even bigger than the recent redesign.

We're talking about a chip that's so

powerful that it has no business being

in a Mini, a screen that's about to get

a whole lot bigger actually, not just,

you know, brighter and with better black

levels, and a price that's you're

probably not going to believe. So, get

those snacks ready, and here's

everything we know about a new iPad

Mini. So, first off, of course, the new

iPad Mini OLED is going to use an OLED

display. But before we get into that,

let me talk about the new design.

Because according to Mark Gurman, it's

getting a new design. It's going to be

water resistant, just like the new

iPhones, and with some other changes as

well. And that does actually make a lot

of sense, because it's a smaller iPad,

so you're probably going to take it with

you anywhere. In fact, the Kindle

Paperwhite is about the same size as an

iPad Mini, and that's also water

resistant. So, for reading, this new

iPad Mini would just be awesome. But

what about those four gigantic speaker

grills? Won't water get inside through

them? Well, here's a pretty crazy part.

According to Mark Gurman, Apple may be

removing those speaker grills entirely.

Um

Wait, what? Yeah, Apple's been testing a

brand new speaker system that uses

vibration technology as opposed to what

the iPhone does, where the speakers are

open, but then we've got rubber seals on

the inside to prevent water from

reaching the logic board. So, we'll have

to see how good these new

vibration-based speakers really are, and

really why Apple even decided to go this

route as opposed to the more traditional

rubber gasket route. Now, David from my

team uses an iPad Mini 7 every single

day, and he told me that his biggest

complaint is not the lack of a 60 Hz

refresh rate, or the performance, or the

speakers. No, those are all fine. It's

the fact that a $500 iPad, sorry, $600

as of last week, more on that in a bit,

still ships with a basic LCD display.

And that's just so disappointing. Like,

don't get me wrong, the display is fine,

the colors are pretty accurate, but the

second you watch any darker scenes, the

blacks suddenly turn into gray, and

I just feel a great is long overdue.

Just like a design upgrade. Fun fact,

the Mini's design has not changed in 5

years, ever since the sixth generation

launched back in 2021. So, yeah, a

design and a display change, they're

both definitely needed, and they also go

hand-in-hand because all the panels are

way thinner than an LCD assembly, which

could finally enable a new much thinner

design, one that also gets thinner

bezels. So, we may actually be getting

some sort of an iPad Mini Pro, right? Or

an iPad Pro Mini. I would absolutely

love to see something like that, but an

iPad Mini Pro, of course, means nothing

without that screen to match. So, let's

talk about that OLED display because as

of last week, Samsung Display has

reportedly begun manufacturing the

panels for this new iPad Mini. And this

also lines up with the inauguration of

Samsung's brand new 8.6

generation OLED production line. So,

yeah, I'm personally convinced that the

OLED iPad Mini is finally happening, and

it's happening pretty soon.

Now, let's talk about the big one,

promotion. We still don't know for sure

whether that's happening, but here's the

thing, while initial reports have

suggested that we may be sticking with a

60 Hz refresh rate,

I personally still think there's a

chance we will actually get 120. And

that's because the iPad Mini has always

been an upscale iPad, like definitely

not a budget iPad, right? And since

Apple did just bring promotion to the

regular iPhone, the iPhone 17, I'm

pretty sure, or at least I hope, that

we'll see it on the Mini as well. But

what do you guys think? Would a lack of

a 120 Hz refresh rate be a deal breaker

for you, or will you still be happy with

just getting OLED? But either way,

this will most likely be a standard

single-stack OLED panel rather than the

tandem OLED that we first saw on the

iPad Pro. So, I'm expecting a maximum

brightness of around 500 to 600 nits as

opposed to the 1600 nits brightness on

the iPad Pro. And honestly,

I think that's still perfectly fine.

Because the upgrade from LCD to OLED is

way bigger and more noticeable than the

jump from a standard OLED panel to a

tandem OLED panel. So, for the vast

majority of people, this display is

going to feel like a massive upgrade.

Okay, now here's the unexpected part.

The display may also grow in size quite

a lot. From 8.3 inch all the way up to

8.7 inch.

So, why is this such a big deal? Well,

it's actually getting surprisingly close

to 9.5 inches, which not a long ago was

the size of the standard iPad. So, yeah,

just think about that. The mini is about

to be almost as big as the regular iPad

used to be or at least when it comes to

the actual viewable display area.

Although, honestly, this isn't that

surprising. It's simply just the

direction that the whole industry has

been moving towards. A few years ago, a

6.1 inch phone felt massive, but today

anything under 6.5 inches feels pretty

compact. But, the bigger screen is only

half the story because what Apple's

reportedly putting inside this thing is

where it gets

even more interesting.

>> Now, remember how I mentioned in my

previous video that we may be getting

the A19 Pro chip? Yeah, that's still a

solid possibility. Although, I think

Apple may be saving those bins A19 Pro

chips for a second gen MacBook Neo.

A20 Pro inside the OLED iPad Mini and

that'll be just insane for such a small

iPad. That's the same chip that's

rumored to be coming in the foldable

iPhone Ultra and the iPhone 18 Pro and

18 Pro Max. And it will also very likely

be paired with the same 12 GB of RAM for

full Apple intelligence support. And

Apple, if you're watching this video,

please don't waste all that power on a

60 Hz panel. Give us promotion. But

either way, this A20 Pro report comes

from a tipster who analyzed a macOS

kernel debug kit backed with some

internal Apple codenames. And yeah, it's

true that uh the iPad Mini was always a

generation or two behind the latest and

greatest A-series chips, but here's the

thing. Back in 2021, Apple released the

iPhone 13 lineup and at the exact same

time, they also released the sixth

generation iPad Mini. And they all had

the latest A15 chip. So, yeah, the A20

Pro is absolutely a possibility. So,

what about the other chips? The ones for

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular? Well,

this hasn't been confirmed yet, but I'm

almost certain that this new iPad Mini

will come with Apple's own M1 chip,

which enables Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

And as for the cellular chips, I'm

pretty sure we'll get either the C1X

like in the latest iPad Pros or even the

brand new C2, which has just been

rumored. Yeah, like I've been using my

M5 iPad Pro 13-in since it came out.

I've got cellular built-in and yeah, it

just changed the way I use my iPad. I

can just open it up and I'm instantly

connected to the internet. So, yeah,

cellular on any device, especially an

iPad or MacBook, is just such a great

blessing to have. Which brings me to uh

the thing that I've been avoiding this

whole video. And that is of course the

price. Let me just give you a bit of

context. The iPad Mini fourth and fifth

generations were $399.

The sixth gen, which came with a full

redesign, bumped that price up by $100

all the way up to 500. Now, the price

went up again just last week, which I'm

sure you've heard about. You've probably

seen our video or you've just read about

it on the news. But now, it's up by

another $100. So, the current gen iPad

Mini already starts at $600.

And if you add an OLED display on top of

that, the new waterproof design, a much

faster chip, more RAM, all of that um

yeah.

You can see where this is going. So, I'm

personally thinking that Apple will

easily add another $100, maybe even 200

extra on top of the current gen's price,

which would honestly make this new OLED

iPad mini $799

to begin with. And if that's the case

for, you know, just a small iPad mini

uh when, you know, a few years ago we

actually had the 11-in iPad Pro start

from that same price,

well, yeah, this would be a pretty

insane. But, if the price isn't an issue

for you and you're still tempted to get

one, when should we actually expect it?

Well, almost every leaker out there

reports a late 2026 release, including

ETNews, ZDNet Korea, and Sam Digital,

and even Mark Gurman. Now,

packed with the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro

Max, the iPhone Ultra, the new Apple

Watches with the Ultra 4, by the way,

set to be getting a redesign. So, I'm

not really sure if Apple will have the

time to also announce this completely

brand new iPad mini.

So, [music] I'm thinking that maybe

they'll leave this until the October or

November event, at which we'll also get

the brand new redesigned MacBook Ultra.

And that's about everything we've got
