Cisco Builds AI Defense with Codex
28 segments
Codex wrote majority of AI defense and
every new feature that we're building is
100% written by Codex.
We built AI defense where every single
one of our engineer was equipped with
Codex. The features that we were working
on for AI defense would have taken
several quarters for us to be able to
get out in the hands of our customers
and that dropped down to weeks. We built
out this open source tool called defense
claw which was ideated from start to
finish to like getting it in the hands
of developers that were using it in an
open source community in under one week.
It was incredible.
It allows our engineers to be a lot more
ambitious. When you take a look at a
backlog, you know, you do a lot of
t-shirt sizing. That's a, you know,
small, medium, large. That's a large
effort. And I think what's happening now
is there's a fundamental change in the
frame of reference that people look at
that backlog and they're just thinking
how long will a codeex run take to be
able to get these things done which is
fascinating.

The video highlights how the integration of Codex, an AI coding tool, has significantly accelerated the development process at the company, turning quarterly project timelines into weeks and enabling the rapid creation and release of open-source tools like Defense Claw. This shift has fundamentally changed how engineers approach their backlogs and project scope.
