Yum! Brands sells Pizza Hut for $2.7 billion. ๐๐ฐ

Yum Brands is selling Pizza Hut for $2.7
billion. Here's why. Same store sales
have been declining since late 2023 or
flat, and that's because the pizza chain
maybe tried to be something that it kind
of wasn't, a delivery business. But, the
problem was that consumers know Pizza
Hut for what it used to be. It used to
be that dine-in experience with that
salad bar and those red roofs. Plus,
convenience stores and delivery
powerhouse Domino's, well, they've just
taken share in recent years. You also
have DoorDash and Uber Eats, that's
helped consumers get access to local
pizzerias more easily. And on top of
that, you have convenience stores now
playing in the fast food space and pizza
space, including Casey's, which is very
well known for its breakfast pizza.
Don't knock it till you try it. But,
this is the first major move by new CEO
of Yum Brands, Chris Turner. He took the
helm back in October of 2025, and in
November, he did hint that there was
going to be a strategic review of the
portfolio. And this allows Yum Brands to
focus on its money maker, Taco Bell.
Taco Bell continues to outperform its
peers, it continues to do so well. And
also, it's leading a major turnaround at
KFC with a rebrand. It also has new
innovation like Boba Refreshers and
boneless chicken, and it's also in the
midst of major international expansion.
