The Essence of CANLABS - 2024 Kickoff with Suzanne Grant
68 segments
happened, but they just weren't quite
ready. Um, not because of any fault of
their own, quite honestly, in some
cases, just bad advice or not nuanced
advice that what we see in the decision
the decision tables with the investors
is a human dynamic, which you know, um,
you kind of have to be there. So I
thought why not why can't we share some
of this information so that more of the
founders can get through faster or or
figure things out more quickly. So it is
a lightning program. It's really brief.
It's designed to get you thinking, to
start putting some structure around your
raise, and also it's it's designed so
that you can spend some time, one-on-one
time with the experts that are here and
myself to ask questions that are very
specific to to your race. So, we have a
lot of one-on- ones baked in here. Um,
so really in essence, what what I like
to be able to lock down is what are
those things that we see that are just
like burning red flags that you're
you're just not going to get a deal done
and maybe you can fix them or be aware
of how to address them. Sometimes it's
just um like in that sales cycle that
you're in being able to address an
object an objection.
And then the other thing is how can
founders just sometimes with very subtle
language or the way they present a slide
in key parts of the presentations.
Um
it's it's really about positioning your
company and yourself. And of course
you're you're you're boiling that down
into very short very short interactions
with investors. So it's uh it is nuance.
So that that is the why. These sessions
are all really brief. Every single
subject in chem labs could be one two
days but I know that you don't have
time. So the idea is to really give you
a taste and a flavor and then give you
the opportunity if you want to come and
do uh one ones. Uh so uh this is the
agenda today. Uh we're just going to zip
zip through
and what I would in my mind what I would
be really happy with if the outcome uh
for you all here today would be that you
get you get some thinking around
structuring a really more efficient and
more effective uh fundraising round.
pick up some insights, but also through
the one-on- ones are probably more for
people who are in driving distance uh to
come to our uh summit can start building
relationships, investor relationships
and turn those into those relationships
into champions. And this has got a lot
to do with
just always be asking, always be
fundraising, always be asking, always be
learning.
